I am still looking around for curriculum and wanted to know if anyone has used LIFEPAC and if so, how did you like it? Do you use one workbook at a time or does it have you skipping around to different ones?
Just checking before I maybe purchase one. Thanks for any help you can give me!

HI! We used life paks now for 10 years!
We did okay with it up to lately I am bored because its been the same all those years. I got lazy with teaching my last one in Science and we will do SOS for him probably because after you have done the experiment with the first child , three yars later when the next one comes you re rememebering the outcome of the last experiment, it can have pluses and negatives.

Life Paks have a ten book series for each subject,
they have units inside those, and you are able to complete one book in 2-3 weeks time fairly easy.
That left us time for breaks, and such,
we generally slacked off on certain months though so never really got done when we wanted.
But over all I was pleased til this year and am looking for new an different things to use.
I may go back to Life Paks next year.
I have a 5th and 9/10th grader, And wil be mixing this year, they will have LP science though or SOS science most likely wich is the computer version of Life Paks

    uhmmm... any more questions?

We've not YET used them but have recently aquired a science and a bible set (for my oldest, a 3rd grader) that we're looking forward to starting soon.

Each workbook is its own unit. Looking through the teacher book and the workbooks themselves, it seems to me that you can do them in any order. They're meant to do one at a time, but if you're in a hurry for some reason I'm sure you could combine certain ones if you wished.
We're not going to do these in the prescribed order, but are still only doing one at a time (per subject). HTH

(Also, if you want to look at some books etc I have EXTRA workbooks for sale for the 3rd grade science and bible sets. The second book in each is missing, and the first couple are written in. I have a separate thread about it and you can PM me for more info if you wish. I need these gone and so they're cheap - around $10 for each set if you're interested. Thanks!)

Da Lynn, I wish when I had started out that I had the bravery to thinkoutside the box. I Was so strict and rigid on my schedule and we did exactly the time increments in the teacher books etc, Lol!
Now I am making my own plans it will be fun!

    LOVE Lifepacs!

I did them in order - but I would imagine for Science or History & Geo you would have to, or Bible if you use them.

IF you do use them in order and stay kinda in the same book in each subject, it's need how they connect the scriptures and such from one subject to the next in each unit level.

We're planning on using again with my daughter who'll be third grader.

We did a few of the recommended projects, and there were some things I spent more time on than just breezing thru the books. Overall, it's been great.

I like how they do their stuff - the seem to really work on the building blocks, then add one thing, then review, then add something else, my daughter likes that - she gets the repetition without it being boring.

    :)

We use Lifepac for math, and we love it. We don't do every problem or quiz if comprehension and mastery are obvious, but we do go in order. We just go at our own pace. We've done SOS, but we prefer the paper version of Lifepac.

I started Crystal in lifepac math after Christmas because she just wasn't getting what we were doing. I loved it and she did too. She loved finishing a workbook and starting a new one. For next year she is doing Lifepac math, bible, lang., and history for ninth grade and Emily is doing the math. I think she will like it a lot too. Her's is fourth grade.

    Hey!

make sure to check pricegrabber on line to make sure you get the right price.

There are several places offering 20% off and free or cheap shipping right now...

    www.pennywiselearning.com is one...

I think the other is called www.discountchristian.com or something like that.

    :)

Has anyone use the placement test? I'm thinking that my son who just finished 3rd grade knows the stuff I read on the LIFEPAC 4th grade scope and sequence.

    we did in the begining,
just to see where to go, but then we kept on with next grade...
4th grade IS pretty much review till the end two or three units, so you may want to do the test

we used Lifepac for awhile, my dh who is a math whiz didn't like the math as they got older. My dd who will be in 9th grade didn't like the math said it was too boring so going to Saxon math, other then that love the Lang. and Science one but if you get the Science one I would say to order the kit to go with it, it comes with all the stuff you need to do the expermint that way you don't have to go look for the stuff. Good luck.

I have to agree with the 9th grade being boring, its ALgerbra1 basically, so that is boring. dd hates math 9, in Life Pak and she will ahve to suffer through it because dh will not purchase another curric if we have one here. She will live, but next year we will do either BJU Geometry or Video Text Geometry.
Kris, what level is she ( your going into 9th) at in Math?
