Patricia and I are doing a craft day with very little money. Do you all have any ideas or craft sites for low and I mean very low budgets?

We order a bunch of things from www.orientaltrading.com 1-800-228-2269 yes, I just got my catalog and am looking through it. ROFL

PLUS some of the ideas in the catalog will spark another craft idea that you might have.

    Good luck!!

Being that it's Summer I usually look at garage sales for craft project supplies. I have found uncompleted things (like cross stitch- I bought a shoe box full of organized cross stitch thread for a dollar and we not only use it for cross stitch, but we also found a book on hair wrapping and tried that too), yarn, wood things that can be painted, cloth, buttons, etc. Then I look at the library at their craft books in the childrens section. They will usually have books that have easy to find supplies for children's crafts. We also do paper mache' with newspaper and flour paste(this is really cheap). We made our Egytian mummy this way and made faces(just a flat kind of ball wrapped and painted like a face). If you can find a gourd supplier in your area these are really fun to paint. You just wash, cut if you want and paint. They can normally be bought for less than .50 a piece. Then plant some of the seeds you get out of the inside and you will have more than you will ever need and you can share! We painted Matreshka dolls(Russia) made out of plastic creamer containers(they are shaped just right). The paint did not stay very well, but it was still fun and you can't keep everything anyway. :)

    Good luck!

I'm not sure what all ages you need, but for little ones DK books has a series called My Art Class. It has different subjects like painting, puppets, I forget what else. I have six of them, I think.

It is true what someone else said about doing OT crafts yourself without ordering their supplies. Most of their stuff can be done just by looking at them and our church has done that for VBS.

I agree Becky. It's that way with others as well. You can get an idea from any of those and do it yourself and save money by going to Wal-mart for the supplies instead. Some of the things are a better buy and are convenient, but I have also found that some places reel you in with big savings and then sock you with S&H charges. I have found that with LTD Commidities A LOT!
