Would you all please pray for Andrew...

Two fishing trips this week and two accidents. The first one on Monday night ended up with a hair line fracture to his thumb - he has a splint on his thumb to immobilize it for three or four weeks - until it heals.

Tonight we weren't out of the car for five minutes when he started screaming... I went to see what happened and he said he stepped on something (I looked around afterwards and all I could see was rocks). When I looked at his foot, there was a puncture spot from where something went into his foot. Off to emerg we went. They did x-rays of his foot and found some residue (rocks) in his foot. They tried to freeze his foot and remove the residue but he couldn't tolerate the freezing (or the poking around). They tried to (unsuccesfully) sedate him long enough to do the job but that didn't work. So we're home for the night in a great deal of pain and have to go back in the morning to see the surgeon on call.

Please pray for him. He doesn't tolerate pain very well and as the freezing comes out, he's in for far more of it.

We went to see the surgeon today. They didn't want to do anything else to Andrew's foot right now. This is a wait and pray deal. He said that he could open his foot a little more and poke around hurting Andrew even more only to figure out they got it all last night (they really don't know for sure) or they could wait for a couple sees to see if it swells anymore (signs of infection) and then if it does go in then and explore some.

Andrew is hobbling around today using a cane to support his weight. Still having lots of pain - understandable. To be truthful, they took a tiny pebble out last night, but I'm not convinced that it was a rock that punctured his foot in the first place - it was too clean of a cut to his foot. Because of this, I'm really not convinced that we're in the clear with his foot yet.

You know you're both in my thoughts and prayers. I'm home now, btw! But my cordless phone is still missing.

We got a phone call last week that there was a bed available for Andrew on the child-adolescent psychiatric unit and he was to be admitted today. I flipped and flopped about sending him or not over the past week and when he was ok with the decision to go, we were going to send him (and then the fishing accidents).

Last night hubby called me when I was working and said there wasn't a dry eye in the house - everyone of them were crying - Andrew didn't want to go and then no one wanted him to go - that was all I needed to hear. He took the phone and I told him I wasn't going to send him...

That might not go over so well with the doctor, but at this point, I don't see Andrew as being the problem - more so the husband/father. Andrew has had a lot to deal with since the accident and until Tracy can get his own act together there's no point in doing anythinng for anyone else (I don't mean it that way - but hubby is the source of a lot of the issues here (head injury stuff) and he has to get them right before anyone else can get back on track - too bad he wouldn't see it that way).

Andrew's foot is a little red but overall it looks to be healing (he's bearing weight on it again and running without shoes on his feet  His thumb - well that will take more time...
