Who actually flosses twice a day? Raise your hands now, don't be shy!

My dentist told me everyone should be flossing twice a day...um about once every other day for me. Also I only go in for a cleaning once a year and they say you should go every 6 months.

Not at all! I once got floss caught on a filling that was a little lose, and it actually pulled the filling out. I've not touched floss since, and the last time I was in I let the hygienest know that I would NOT floss, PERIOD!

Yikes! Well, my teeth are still hurting form the flossing they did over 12 hours ago now! I told them I had sensitive teeth and to be careful. This particular lady was a fill in, because the reg one was on maternity leave. I felt like all my teeth were being pulled out. OW dragging that little white string down into my gums! I can still feel it! Drats.

I'm not good at flossing. but when I DO floss, I see the difference it makes! I think I do a good job of brushing, but when I floss, I find it wasn't that great after all---well, becuase the brush can't get in between very well.

I now floss, and have my kids floss about 3 or 4 times a week--that's really good for me!

I don't suggest skipping flossing---you'd be amazed at what stays in there and causes problems in your mouth!

Nellie, If you haven't flossed regularly, your gums will be much more tender than if you do! Ihad a time when I was flossing regularly, and during and after the cleaning it didn't hurt! I was impressed with the importance of flossing by that too!

Oh, we go every 6 months for cleaning.

My best friends dh is a dentist (they hs also). He says once a day is sufficient. (I won't give his name--the ADA might hunt him down and take his license for that blasphemy).

I floss only when there's something in my teeth and a toothpick isn't cutting it. I'd probably do so more if I had one of those flossamajigs.

I am almost embarrassed to admit this, but I am a compulsive flosser. I floss at least three times a day. Not because I want cleaner, healthier teeth, but because I can't stand the idea of food sitting between my teeth. It drives me bonkers!!! Even if I can't feel anything, I have it set in my mind until I do something about it.
I can't think straight until I floss. I keep floss in our end tables, on my computer desk, bathroom, and in my purse.
If I can't find any, I get so anxious about it that I have used my hair at times!!!!
I started laughing when I read this thread because I am positive that I floss too much and it is probably not good for my gums. What is even more odd is I grabbed a piece of floss and it is hanging out of my mouth as I type.

Yeah - my thoughts exactly. Only I probably wouldn't even do it if I did have one of those flossamajigs.

I brush two time and very often sometimes three times a day though.:D

 I brush daily and floss sometimes. I do go to the dentist every six months, so does Elijah - Gianna needs to go the next time we do. Need to make that appointment. I love my dentist, he is a Christian and is so gentle. Elijah loves to go to the dentist???

I just had a cleaning today and was told that I am doing great. It is nice to hear since I have braces and it is difficult to keep my teeth clean. Before braces I flossed at least once a day. Now I floss every couple of days to a week. It is very difficult to floss with all of the brackets and wires in my mouth right now. I do have some special little tools to use in place of flossing and they seem to work well. I also use ACT restoring rinse to protect my teeth since I cannot clean them as usual. I also use a Sonicare tooth brush which really helps.

I actually do floss at least once a day, but I don't think I do a very good job with it. I try not to visit the dentist unless absolutley necessary. They scare the heck outta me.

Magic- yes it is hard to keep them clean with braces!

BTW My teeth were in excellent shape and I hadn't visited the dentist in a year. No cavities, build up, nothing to scrap off. They were impressed. I also only flossed once every other day or so. So, why did that lady take the floss and jam it into my gums!!!! Never again am I having them floss my teeth! I do it myself, nothing was wrong with them. They kept saying the whole time that they see I keep my teeth in good shape and blah blah blah.
