Because your kid might get beet up by a senior citizen on the school bus???

The other woman (I'm assuming the bus driver) seems quite convinced the boy "didn't mean to do that". But the feisty 70 year old bus attendant proceeded to beat up this 14 year old kid anyway.

So, from what I see...the kid is rowdy in the seat, the lady corrects him, he bites her, she beats the holy tar out of him. If THIS is the case, Can't say I blame her. Back in her day that might have been acceptable. I would have done this differently: I would have marched him to his parents. How do you not mean to bite someone?

(again: if this isn't the way things went then disregard my statement above.)

Wow - did you see the SIZE of that kid, compared to the old lady? He's like a foot and a half taller than her!

I couldn't tell much from the video though... she bit him, that's for sure, but it was hard to see what he was doing. I could hear a kid crying, but I don't think it was him - it sounded like a younger child. And the accents are completely beyond me.

Here's the question - don't bus attendants in their neck of the woods have a right to throw unruly kids off the bus? Around here a kid can't bully or harass a bus driver, because they'll just get banned from the bus. In this case, that should have been done LONG before it ever escalated to physical violence.

SHE BIT HIM!! And should be punished for that!! SHAME on her.. No matter what he did to her she should never had done that.. If he was doing something to aggrivate her than she should've take care of that in the corret manner.. Biting is NOT the way to do that. Seems like she has an anger issue and should not have been working around kids in the first place..

    Wow that was awful.

I think even worse, she went off... sort of seemed to calm down, then attacked the kid again.

I don't see where the boy provoked her, although it's hard to tell.

WTH with the other adults sort of.. yelling at her but not restraining her?!

    Just.. wow.

There was one woman that looked like she was trying to pull the driver off, the one going "He didn't mean to do that".

The other, white lady, I was wondering why she was standing there. Then at one point, it looked like she was comforting a younger kid - probably the one crying. You can see a blur when he turns around and his face is blurred out. IDK why she was just sitting there - maybe she thought the other woman had it under control at first.

Otherwise...idk what to say. Except...total nonissue...that 14 yo is gonna get so teased at school (or prob is) when word is out he got beat up by a 70 yo woman. But...if he wasn't hitting back - and I can't tell - then kudos to him for NOT hitting an old woman, whatever else was going on.

I'd have to know more history on this before I'd condemn the woman too thoroughly. The teenage boy admitted to police that he had "threatened and cursed" the woman before. I'd like to know how often and exactly what he'd say and what his posturing was when doing so.

I'd also like to know what measures the school had ever taken to make sure this woman would be safe on the bus with this boy. I mean, if you've been in fear for your own safety for who knows how long and the boy who's been threatening you tosses a younger boy over a seat who then hits you...well, I can be a little more understanding of snapping.

From what the article was showing, this wasn't some squeaky clean kid who was just being a regular boy and then got whomped on for it. It sounds like he was a bully with a history of threatening the woman and who obviously had no problem flouting rules [I mean, come on, he was rough-housing enough to actually toss a boy OVER a seat?].

No, her behavior wasn't right, but I'd really like more of an accurate history of what led to that moment before I condemn her too harshly. He may well have had a bit of a well-deserved smackdown coming from someone. Or, she may be just a short-fused whack-job. I need more info to know what I think about the situation.

Edited to add: I found this article that gives more details about the incident. Apparently, the boy has been threatening physical violence to the older woman regularly. http://www.theledger.com/article/20111011/NEWS/111019874

Apparently, that was a special needs kid. This happened in my state, let me look hothead story for more info.

ETA: I couldn't find anything to verify that. That was ANOTHER incident from 2009 in Virginia where an aide was kicking a severly autistic kid while he was restrained in his seat.

What is not shown in that video is the boy threw another boy head first, over the seat in front of him. Its the boy the other woman was comforting, maybe 5-6 years old. The little boy's foot hit her in the face. That's who I feel sorry for in the whole scene. That's also why I don't think high school kids should be on the same buses with the elem. school kids.
