I have a dining room window that I'd like to turn into a mirrored display case.
This window used to face our yard.
When our laundry room was added on the window was kept to add 'character' to the dining room. So, it now lets us see into the laundry room, not outside.
My idea is, make this into a mirrored display and install ceiling to floor mirror panels to that wall in the laundry room to make up for the openness that will be lost.
    Big ideas!
Did any of you ever try something like this?
    Any advice?

Wow, Becky, the memories your post brought to mind.....
When I was growing up, one of my bedroom windows was the same deal--beautiful view of the new laundry room! My folks are now in the same delima. They are using bookshelves now to cover the window since they made my old room into the office.

This is just a thought, but if doing something with the window is awkward in the dining room, you could drywall the dining room side and make an added storage area/shelves on the laundry room side. My dining room happens to be our "school room" (and kitchen), so I would utilize the space for more school stuff or storage. Let us know your needs and decor and we can help you brainstorm!

Well, the laundry room is narrow and rectangular- maybe 7W x 14 L. That's why I thought of the mirror panels for the wall that faces the laundry room window that DOES face outside. It would create an illusion of space. We didn't do this addition- the previous owners did. After 8 years here, we're still finding examples of the creative ways they hid blemishes here in the house.
The dining room window is tall, about 41/2 ft, maybe 6 inches deep.
A mirror display would pick up light from the hallway that leads to the front door. In fall our diuning room is darker because of less sun. I crave more light in here.
I wonder what I would enter into google to research this more?

My niece has a bedroom that used to be a balcony! The landlord didn't even bother to take down the light that used to be outside!
