My niece and her daughter are staying with us for the summer. Anyway...

She seems to think she needs to use a new towel every time she showers. I wouldn't mind except that we only have a few spaces to keep towels in between showers. Also, I don't like putting them right in a hamper because of the smell of wet laundry after a day or two. I like to hang up my towel or lay it out to dry in between uses.

I figure if you are drying off a clean body and drying the towel in between, it is not going to be real dirty and you only have to wash it once in a while.

    What do you think?

You could politely ask her to hang her towel in a certain spot and ask her to reuse it at least once to help conserve energy and water.

I change our towels twice a week. I think I started that when I started changing our sheets twice a week. My son's sheets are changed weekly. However, my hubby has really oily skin and he likes the feel of fresh sheets, so it is my little way to make him smile mid-week and on the weekend. I see no need for clean towels every day. I would definitely say something if she is putting wet towels in the hamper. That can get gross if they are in there more than a day.

My husband and I have OUR towels that we use and change after a few uses. I use a towel for my hair too, the kids seam to think they need to toss the towels in OUR hamper..... we are having some discussions on that too....... However if they bring them to their room they seam to never come out......But they help with the laundry too ...... just our washer throws a fit when we load too many towels at one time ........ and we don't have the room either...

I would definately say something. I got tired of the kids doing that with our towels.. I would wash the towels and 3 days later they were ALL dirty again.. SOOOOO, I bought them their own towels. Color coded and since they have to wash their own laundry, if they don't hang their towels up they have to dry off with wet/stinky ones until they wash them.. It doesn't always work.. They still sneak in and get my towels sometimes..

I would definitely start telling your visitors what your desires are or it could be a long summer. Just do it nicely and find her a place to put the wet towels.

That was just what I was going to suggest... put up temporary hook(s).

No, we don't use our towels just once, either.

We hang ours and reuse a couple of times. I don't like to throw wet towels in the hamper either! A lot of hotels ask you to reuse your towels during your stay "to conserve energy"! ;)

Walmart and other places sell those back of door hooks that just hang over the top of the door. I have one on the kids bathroom door to hang wet towels on! Just take it off the door when you don't have quests. Just ask them to hang the towels up to dry when finished and if they want a fresh towel everyday, maybe she could wash and dry a load of towels everyday!
