Tee hee...it helps to listen to moms who can appreciate their children being "creative" like that. I need to take my inventive, resourceful, efficient ds with a grain of salt  . He constantly looks for loopholes in instructions or will sit for 10 minutes contemplating how to do a 1 minute job with only half-a-minute's effort....you gotta love 'em!
Brenda, I didn't see the post of how old the kids were. I think that makes a huge difference in how they are treated. One thing you might want to try is standing up time out. We switched to this method because ds was content to sit there for long than he is willing to stand. Maybe when they start the "I need a drink of water, I need blah blah - tell them that there will be no leaving their room and they have to stand in the middle of their floor until they are ready to lay down in their bed and go to sleep. No playing with toys while standing there. Heck I'd even make them stand there in the dark. Of course this method wouldn't work on a 2 year old but...it could work on 4+ Oh and then...make sure you wake them up early the next morning. It's homeschool boot camp, kiddos! HTH
