Hi! I am updating my blog this morning and thinking of if I want to change up anything, while clicking around I came across the link to the get paid for ads spot.

    Does anyone use this?
Does it really pay? how much? ETc.
    Pros or cons?
    Thanks!

Apparately you put up an ad on your blog/site, and when someone clicks on it you get paid. The amount you get paid varies with the ad.
Some people manage to make a living with this.

I had the Google ads up on my blog for a month or two. I got up to about $14 in my account and then got an e-mail saying that they were removing the ads because of "suspicious clicks". I never figured out what that meant.
I think some other people have been successful with it, but I never got paid.

Wow, Tiff did you even get the 14? Dh and I were thinking if I had enough people it may make something but not that many people read my blogs yet so ... we will skip that for now, I wonder who else has ads that pay though? I have a link to Bible Gateway, and I think Lifeway books, and a few other things, but not actual ads.. do I even want them?

You've written a short question, but it needs a long answer.

I do this and get paid every month. A number of different companies regularly send me money.

If you want to keep your blog as it is and just add Google ads, then do so and you'll get a check once in a while. The payment threshold is $100, so you get paid every time your earnings go over $100. With one average blog you may get a $100 check every 1-2 years, but if you have a few blogs and webpages and you aim to earn like this then there are other things you can do.

There are other ways to monetize your blog apart from Google. My favorite is Amazon Associates, you advertise a product and if someone clicks and buys, you get a commission. If you write about homeschooling and mention books then it pays to have an Amazon Associates account. If you live in the US the payment threshold is only $10.

I earn regularly with Fiverr, WebAnwers, Best-Reviewer and HubPages. I have my own webpages and blogs, and I've written a few Kindle books.

I'm willing to help anyone get started doing this, it's a huge learning curve, it takes a lot of time and patience and is far from a get rich quick scheme, but it's perfect for a mom at home because you can earn money in the gaps between doing other things. And you can teach your children to do so too.

Tina, so if I have my books on Amazon, if someone buys it I can get paid twice? Is that what you are saying? Cause I have my books there , In His Love, Follow on Hinds Feet and A 90 day Journey to the Heart of God. Soon to be added will be "Good Morning Lord" a 30 day journey to the Heart of Prayer, and two more this year.
I have an advertisement on my blog page, and I think it is connected to my blog stie too. Which is joint with my web site address.

I am currently looking to make more money, while my ds still wants me to home school I may be doing so while helping out at our local Christian school as per his choice. If they can pay me what I need, that is. I may also instead be sitting a preschooler and home schooling him for his mama. I am certified as a preschool/K teacher so I can do this easy enough but want something that will gain $$$ while I don't have to do too much to it on the side.

I've never met anyone that had anything good to say about google ads-as stated-you have to earn $100 to get payout. Most people I know get closed down for those 'suspicious clicks' and then never earn ANY money.

I used to use project wonderful years ago.

Currently I just sell ad space myself-I like the control I have over it plus I get paid upfront. I also have a couple of affiliate accounts. Amazon is the best, simply because everyone uses amazon, not just homeschoolers, so even my friends who don't homeschool can use my link.

TeacherMom, go to an Amazon page, scroll to the bottom where it says "Make Money with Us" Click on "become an affiliate" and follow the instructions. I saw your webpage and your books for sale, if you are selling your books through Amazon then you should become an Affiliate and you will get affiliate money for each sale in addition to selling your books. It starts at 4% and the more you sell the higher the percentage goes.

I have Google ads and I get a $100 check once a year. All I did was put 2 ads on my blog and nothing else. It's not much, but it's a nice surprise when it comes. I tried the amazon one, but I didn't care for it.

The "suspicious clicks" are from someone getting click happy on them and then they take it away as an option (they assume that maybe you are clicking frantically on them to get paid for them).

I have a friend who uses them on their blog, I'll find out more about it and get back to you about it.....

Selling ad spots on your blog might be the easiest way. If you can find companies that you would support yourself, and ask them if they would purchase an ad space on your blog for a monthly fee. If you can get a few good ads going, it's great advertising for them, and money in your pocket. The ads are usually small pictures in the sidebar, close to the top of your page. Click on the ad and it takes you to the website. Starting price might be from between $10-20 per month per ad.

TeacherMom, I'm in California too. We lost the ability to do Amazon ads on June 30th, but they brought it back on October 3rd. You are allowed to join Amazon Associates.

You can sell ad spots. People do commission junction and shareasale, but Amazon Associates is the easiest and the one I recommend starting with.

How successful have you ladies been with approaching companies for ads? So far I haven't approached anyone about that, but I think I might start.

I was an Amazon affiliate until NC changed their tax code and Amazon dropped all NC affiliates.
I'm glad CA got theirs back...no such luck for us. :(

Nancy, there are companies who do that for you - Shareasale, Linkshare, and Google has an affiliate program. I wouldn't waste my time talking to companies but rather go through one of those where they have done the groundwork of getting companies who want advertisements and drawing up the agreements.
