Ok.. I am not a fan of infomercials.. they are always gimmicks.. but this one has caught my attention!! Has anyone seen it yet? They have a website www.brainetics.com. At first my thought was how much I hate seeing the Teach Your Baby To Read infomercials.. which I can't stand!! But really it looks like it would work.. and be fun. I haven't investigated yet, nor have I found out how much it is... in fact I'm not even sure why I stopped on that channel when I sat down to feed the baby.. but I did.

I haven't seen the infomercial but the website makes it look worth buying. I just might have to do some research on this and if it seems worth it I may hint to my DH grandma (who is willing to help out with stuff like this and has money) that I would like it.

I would love it if my kids could be walking calculators....maybe it would even help me since math was NOT my strong subject. :)

Some of the tricks they showed on the infomercial were cool!! like to find 25 squared you would take the first number and mult by 3 (this only works for numbers ending in 5) so 2x3=6

so your probem looks kind of like this (imagine the x)

    25
    25
    6

Then you take the 5s and multiply them: 5x5=25

    so you have your answer:

    25
    25
    625

To multiply numbers in the 90s

    96
    95

take the number away from 100 they are...

    96 (4)
    95 (5)

subtract the bottom () number from the top.. that is the first part of your answer 96-5=91:

    96 (4)
    95 (5)
    91

Then multiply the () numbers to get the rest 4x5=20:

    96 (4)
    95 (5)
    9120

I think you meant 25 squared. The square root of 25 is 5 not 625.

I ordered Brainetics but it hasn't come yet. The 20/20 clip on it was interesting to watch.

You can watch it from the Brainetic site. There is a place to click to watch it. I can't wait for it to come. I think I will enjoy it more than the girls.

lol.. that was my thoughts too! Math has always been fun for me.. I always saw it as a puzzle. I wish I could get Garrett to see it that way.. he is GOOD in math, just hates to do it.

I'll go check the site for that video!!!

hmm maybe I will check thi sout, but the cost would kill me lol, I get anxiety over a 20 dollar purchase LOL!
even if I have the 20 to spend, kwim?

I love fun learning helps things though.... I also love hearing about people who taught thier 2 yr old to read and stuff cause I knwo 2s are actuallyreally receptive to learning, when they turn three however if you have not 'caught them' in the learning they seem to go into a "I just wannnahave fun" mode hehe, lots of fun, I miss those days!

Our Brainetic order came today and I want to look through everything, but don't have time. I have two kids leaving for camp tomorrow and only get to take time to get on here for a few minutes while some clothes are drying.

Oh Beth.. enjoy your "camp break" but not too much.. I have to know how you like the brainetics!! Right now it's on my income tax shopping list for next year... but I need to know it's worth the money.

I know he was working with some younger kids and some older kids. I think it could be used by anyone of any age who knows basic math.. but I'm sure Beth will soon be able to tell us more.

It will be a few days before I will get to look at it and see what it is like. Since the youth will be at camp this week, we will be doing special things with Emily during the day. Tomorrow we go to Tweetsie Railroad for our annual Tweetsie day with her. She is about to outgrow it and Freddy and I will miss taking her so much. I thought she was going to say she was too old this year, but she decided she wanted to go tomorrow. I really want some time alone to go over Brainetics with no interuptions.

The railroad sounds like fun! Definately right up our alley! Take your time giving up us your review.. it's definately not in our budget until income tax rolls around again... so I have months to decide if I really want it.

It was $100 and free shipping on the website...I decided to get it and check it out. It might be a fun "game" for the kids to play to mix things up. If we don't like it, I'll just sell it.
