    Whew, am I tired!!!

Last Wednesday, my mil passed away. It's one of those times when death is expected, and is actually a blessing. She had been at my bill's house for over a month, and hadn't been out of her hospital bed in the living room for about three weeks. Hospice had called her in several months ago. All four of her children were with her when she passed. The funeral is tomorrow, which is our big co-op day. I've had to get a sub for my class, and the kids will both be missing science labs. Tuesday is also the worse possible day for Rachael, because she has several classes she proctors and needs to get subs, too. But we will manage! My one step-son is coming today with his family; the other one, we learned, is on probation and may not make it, because he has to have the judge's permission to leave the state he's in. And his probation officer had left when Michael called on Thursday and wouldn't be back until this morning. So that's up in the air.

We are seriously considering buying her house. It's very close to where we now live, but is in a nicer neighborhood. It backs up against a private walking path, and is very near a park with a bike path. The kids aren't excited about the change, but they're getting use to it. I wasn't sure either, but the more I think about it, the more I like it. Only thing I'll miss is my current neighbors. They're WONDERFUL, and we've recently started a ladies' prayer group of Friday AM to pray over our neighborhood. Plus I'll have to "re-educate" the new neighbors on hs'ing, lol!

Holidays will be really weird without my mil. She bought, bought, and bought for everyone!!! (It was actually a point of contention how much she got for the kids!) I know we'll be doing Thanksgiving at my sil's house, but am not sure what's going to happen for Christmas!

And last night, I was up late baking FOUR PIES! Whew!!! Glad that's done!!!

OK. Just wanted to spend a few minutes catching folks up!!! Got to get the kids going on SOME school today. I'm already having to take Phillip out to buy some pants that aren't jeans , and drop the stuff for my class off at someone's house! Thanks for listening!

I am sorry for your loss. My mother in law died several years ago and my daddy died before that. It is strange how much holidays change. Praying all will work out for your family as you decide about the possible move.

The funeral was nice. My oldest step-son...well, I'll tell you all about THAT later .

But right now, he's here, as is the other step-son and his family. Rachael stayed last night, but had to get back to college for an 8:00 AM class tomorrow.

    It's nice having them here!!!

I am glad they all got to be there. Hope you get a good nights rest tonight. I am sure it has been a long day for all of you.

Well, it looks like we'll be moving for sure. Carl's siblings are all for it, and REALLY want it to happen. It's set up on a "line of credit", which the minimal payments (ie: interest only) are just about $200 a month. Our current payments are over $1,000 a month, so this is a SUBSTANTIAL savings. (Of course, we'd be putting down on the principle, too!) Well, there is some work on this house that needs to be done. But today, the neighbor stopped by. It seems a friend of hers is renting, and looking to buy a 2-story house in this neighborhood. It's bigger than they want (four br's, not three), and the cost might be a bit of a stretch. But if we don't have to do some of the work we thought we would, maybe we can bring the price down a bit. Plus it would mean no realtor involved. So my friend is going to contact her, and we'll see what happens.

What I REALLY wish is that my step-son and his wife could have it, but there's NO WAY they could afford the payments. As it is, we'll be keeping my mil's washer and dryer, and her freezer. So we'll be giving ours things to them. I wouldn't mind keeping MY washer/drayer, but it's silly to move both sets. My dil is THRILLED at the idea of getting freezer, and their washer/dryer went out a while ago. They can't afford a new one, so she's been going to the laundry mat weekly.

I am SO thankful that his siblings aren't fighting over "stuff"!!! The division of things have gone on pretty well. The will gave some things out specifically (jewelry to dh's only sister, for example), the house to all four of them together (we'll take out a small loan after we sell our house so each one will get a fair share), and then then each of them got to chose ONE thing. When that was done, each got to chose one more, taking turns until it was all divided up. But honestly, people went through and wrote a list of what they wanted and then they sat down and talked it out. So this weekend, the house will start getting emptied and once that happens, we can start moving stuff over there. It's only maybe 2 miles away; you don't have to cross any major streets. The kids will ride their bikes over there in the summer. And the ladies in my Friday Neighborhood Prayer group told me I could still come for prayer....

I'm happy to hear that the family is acting so nicely to each other as they deal with this sad time. I'll be praying that the move goes smoothly.
