Jeannie and I are going to a GS Crazy Hat party Saturday. Anybody have some fun ideas on what we could do for hats?
Well, you could just get any old hat you have around and glue stuff on it...or if you have costume jewelry pins pin them on. feathers are great... we had a buffalo hat once, really the head of a buffalo! (fake) it was great. we attached feathers all over it, hanging down. (as if a buffalo head wasn't crazy enough) My dd loved lace...I once bought a box of lace from a store called Fabric by the Pound...best toy EVER. she pretended all sorts of things with that, but you could do veils or attach it to a hat like a princess hat. The princess hat, the tall cone, that the girls used lost the lace at the top and turned into a wizard hat for the boys.
We have crazy hat parties at our church and you can do sooooo much with a hat. I have seen hats with sail boats on top and all around the edges, to look like water, the person added blue ribbon. They even glued in plastic dolphins to look like they were jumping out of the water, around the boats. I have seen cone hats that are covered in ribbons, hats that look like animals, flower hats that have butterflies and other bugs on wires so they look like they are moving, martian hats, fruit salad hats, and more. If you make a hat, post the pics. I would love to see what you come up with!
I don't have any good ideas but I love the crazy hat party theme. I would love to see pictures of what you create. Have fun at the party. Beth
Do you have a Long John Silver's near by? they have pirate hats (free)--- you could paint them a sand pail for a hat paper hat made from the sunday funnies (hope you recycle so you still have it)
Get yourself a wide brim hat and put feathers and frillie girly stuff and get your dd a pink baseball cap and do the same.
