Reagan got his new glasses on Saturday. He has worn them on and off, getting used to them. I did notice he was no longer complaining of headaches as long as I made sure he wore them when he played video games or did any school work.

Today, he sat down and happily did his school work.. totally not him! Then, when I said he was good to go he said "Wait, I didn't do reading!!!" I was going to let him skip today because we are waiting on the next level of HOP to get here and we will be done with what we have by the end of the week, I'm not sure the new stuff will be here in time.

He grabbed his box and started going through the books he has already read! He went through 6 books, on his own... smiled the whole time and never once said "I don't know" (which was his usual fit when he we did anything schoolish. I thought he was being lazy, here he couldn't see :( )

yeah! A few years back we had dds eyes tested because of headaches too.. she was complaining about not seeing a mess , I thought she was lying, gulp. Then when I found out how bad her eyes were for anything beyond the computer or books, I understood! She didnt know what she was seeing!

Heres to getting the eyes checked!

We do go to the eye dr every year for a check up. But, Reagan has refused to participate every time until this year. Good thing he got over it huh?

Meh.. he refused because he is Reagan and that is what he does..lol He probably classifies as having mild aspergers, if he decides he isn't doing something he shuts down (also if he is overwhelmed or overstimulated).

Thanks :) I'm kind of biased in my view, but I really like them on him ;)

Well, YAY! Last year DGS complained of headaches, too, but when we took him to the eye doctor, we were told there's absolutely nothing wrong with his eyes. He just thought he wanted glasses!

That's awesome! I need to make an appointment for my son because I've noticed the past couple weeks he's blinking hard. It makes me wonder if he's having problems seeing.

I got glasses in 3rd grade and I remember so clearly how completely different the world looked. In Minnesota they put the population below the town name on the signs as you enter a town. I always thought below the town name was just squiggly decorations. I remember the moment I saw the words, "Population 891" under our town's sign and it was AMAZING! What a cool idea!! :)

I'm having a hard time getting dd to wear her glasses as she says she sees fine without them and they just make things bigger. However 2yrs ago when I first got my glasses it made a HUGE difference for me. I found out that street signs don't have a glowing halo aroudn them at night and you don't have to be right next to the sign to read it. Also found out you can see the lines of the road in your mirror. Yes my eyes are that bad and I was driving, alone and w/ my dd, on a regular everyday basis and even working until after 10pm every night. It's a wonder I didn't get called in for drunk driving or something. I passed the eye exam at the licence branch with my eyes that bad:eek: So glad your son can see and is enjoying things he learns now.

I got glasses in the third grade, too. I'd never seen individual leaves on trees. I just thought there was a mass of green up there. Couldn't tell cows from horses in a field as we drove by, unless they were near the fence a few yards from the highway. Had never seen a bunny or a squirrel run across the road. Mom and Dad thought I couldn't tell time -- I just couldn't see the clock up on the wall (skinny hands on it). Glasses opened up a WHOLE new world for me!
