Hi there - I'm Kim and I just found this great forum. I've been married to a great guy for 15 years and we have 1 ds 9 y/o that we have decided to begin homeschooling this year after much research and soul searching. We've decided to use Sonlight for this year to get our feet wet - even though we are planning on omitting some things since we are looking for a secular curriculum. We're in the DFW area of TX and am looking forward to learning a lot on this site!

    Kim

Welcome! Lots of Texas people on here and joining recently. What's up with that? I know lots of great teachers from TX...so I would think their schools would be good...but maybe TX is just like everywhere else...

Welcome to the world of homeschooling and homeschoolspot.com! this is a great forum with very supportive fellow homeschoolers! Good luck, you will do great! I do a secular homeschool curriculum also, they are a little difficult to find :)

Welcome. We are Sonlighters as well. Depending on which Core you are using, it will be pretty easy to omit things to make SL secular especially if you are using Core 3 or Core 4 (or 3+4). Even Core 1+2 uses a main spine that is from Calvert School (secular). We're not omitting from SL but I can see how it could be done. We have omitted particular books, etc but that was due to tastes and time.
