I was wondering what others think of Skype for calls from the U.S. to Asia computer to computer. Thank you in advance for your comments.
It's excellent. From early January until May, my second son was an exchange student at the University of Singapore. Once or twice a week, we'd have a Skype call at zero cost. More than that, his Apple laptop has a built-in webcam, so he could show me his room. Rather than all pile into my office, my wife and some of our other children would join the call. If I saw my mother online (she lives in the UK), we'd conference her in too - and my brother who's posted to Cyprus. Occasionally a call would drop but, on the whole, the quality of the calls was excellent.
I have it, but I'm only used it once (won't say why). It's not bad but most IM services do something similar.
we love skype, mostly nebraska to Hawaii and Nebraska to Virginia, but you can call as far away as you want. It's great for grandparent contact!!
We love skype, have used it with my husbands brother while he was in Iraq. It is an excellent way to stay in touch.
Another Skype fan/user here. My sister is a missionary in Africa, and we use it a lot. It does get a bit choppy with her internet there in the village, but other than that, we have no problems.
Also fans here. We use it daily to "skype chat" to my siblings, and a few times a week using the "'face to face chat". Some times we have issues with connections with my mum as she lives in a very rural area of Oz, but I wouldn't have been able to be away from family and friends for so long without having it.
