Anyone hear that ESPN was making fun of homeschoolers when covering the National Spelling Bee? I can't find much on it, but I heard a national radio talk show host talking about it. I found a little on their website, but no details.
There were three articles on the web site. One was a somewhoat humorous of picking a "top team" and why those four were chosen. One team was chosen because they were either homeschoolers or had names he couldn't pronounce. I didn't find it find it offensive. Sometimes I think we need to be able to laugh at ourselves.
I saw something on television the other night about a home school child being in the spell-a-thon. I really didn't watch enough of it to make much of it - maybe it was Good Morning America or something like that - whatever it was, what little bit I did see, didn't look to be bashing the home schooling community (but I know it happens). Maybe they're doing so becuase of jealousy Brenda
I find it interesting that homeschoolers have such varying stereotypes.....one is that they win spelling and geography competitions....the other is that they can't read. Go figure???!!!
