Some people amaze me..... I left a voice mail the other day for a government official who is determining my children's qualifications for supplemental disability due to medical conditions. I received a call back from this woman on Monday around 4pm. She was yawning the whole time and saying how she just wasn't really up to doing work after missing a day, etc., etc., etc. In the midst of yawning some more she asked me to send a copy of an official document to her. I asked if she would like me to fax, e-mail, or mail it. She all of a sudden blurts out, "Oh, I'm sorry, I was under the impression you were a stay-at-home mom!". I replied, just as amazed, "I am! Welcome to the new stay-at-home mom!" Sorry, I just thought someone might get a good laugh at my expense--and hers! Still can't get over how she handled the call when she thought me a mere stay-at-home, baby-making, sit-on-my-duff simpleton. I have half a mind to talk to her superior.... Well, fire away ladies! I thought this might be a nice stress reliever!
Brooke, I had a similar reaction with a state employee, when applying for medical assistance for the kids. Ugh, that kind of stuff drives me batty
I hope I hope they aren't all that way. I am applying for SSI for Vicki for medical reasons. I might have to get ill.
Yeah right! and then they stay home with their children for a period of time (like maternity leave) and then get a whole new perspective on life. It's people like these, you'd love to invite to your home to show them that being "just" a stay at home mom is a lot more than sitting around doing nothing but twitling your thumbs! Especially when it's men making those comments - that drive's me absolutely insane - my husband used to be one of them until he walked a mile in my shoes - he's quick to defend stay at home mom's now!
