Okay I am posting myself because I DID ask this one, and yet, No one told me anything hehe, anyone ??
Did anyone look at this one? sniff sniff.....

I think I will go with the Notgrass, because it looks easier for me, and I am going to use the BF print outs to go with it for fun stuff and set up things...
Then like I said on the other thread Id like to use it for Horse History and that will be good.
So thats the one set thing I am getting for dd,
She already has Creative Writing, that I picked up on vacation at a seconds books sale store...it was new though!
still woudl like to knwo if anyone else has tried this one out or NOT liked it... NOTGRASS has a web site but CBD has the lessons to see samples.

    Teacher Mom,
I haven't used EWH, but my 9th grader is using EAH this year. I got it the day before yesterday, and I couldn't put it down. I have gone through it and incorporated BF with it at the appropriate times. I think I will also add in some geography. We plan to spread this over 1 1/2 years. Clarynda

Okay, so you are thinking like me, the BF is good with it?
You are doing the American History.. but its basically the same stuff just different lessons.... same outline of 5 days correct? and with the BF, I am thinking if I start with the samples I have see how that incorperates with it and order the book if I need to on that one to go with the EWH... will you use it for bible and literature too?

I know you and I talked about this sometime back in May. I'm still on the fence and our school year starts soon. Did you order it yet? I wanna know what you think. What BF print outs are you talking about and how do they work with the EWH program? Is this a self-direction type program or will I be working one on one with dd to complete it?

the BF print outs are the samples .. I think from CbD it allows you to print the sample lessons.. this means I have the first two at least , which are the ones that have the set up for the binder? (note book)
I have not yet ordered but will possibly do so within today... hubby was too tired to put his eyes to work on the computer and he is my order person. I am gathering ISBNs for him so he can go in find best price and send for it all.
It really is hard to choose, I had no idea what people go through each year that change things each year!
    WOW!
Adversity builds character and I tell you I am quite a character hahah!
Anyway, Today is my D day, do it or not! I have friends coming to stay the night at our house ( becoming a bed and breakfast even! Haha!) sometime this evening so my mulling and searching will be limited for a time.
I have been on the fence with this for most of the summer. And dh helped me figure that the EWH just has it all, all the things to learn, what days to do them on and he said I need that for MY sake, though the other one looks like it would be more fun... what will teach her the best is what it came down to... would we get any writing of reports in? Papers etc, I don't know with BF< though its assigned I may not follow through, with this other one where she has each day to check on... it may be better, more organization?
One is said to be for 4-8th with an extention of History lesson books to look up and read... We really liked the idea of looking and reading the books when we first chose BF, back last spring! That was the selling point then.
Now dh thinks we wont do the work if we get the bf, where is the othe rone its layed out for you most of the reading is right there wiht only a little side work. So dd and I have no excuses for not reading when needed ( Though dd reads so much we have decided all the extra reading it tells you to do will be 'home work' to train her to do homework when she goes out the following year.
a heavy load yes, but I guess it will train her up to be a better college student some day as both the History and the science claim that they are prep courses!
This is cool to me, it just seems like a lot of hard work and I have a tendancy to try to find the easy way out!

I almost chose easy math, easy english easy, all those just because I want it easy hahah!
my dd is great at reading, and will enjoy the mostly reading and writing a paper or two a week type of format of EWH, i think.
She said she would. She chose it twice and bf twice in the past 6 months not knowing which one it was one time, and just seeing the outlines.
see how I go back and forth but the main weights are on the notgrass school work. It seems very thurough.. and from what I can tell accurate and they have a 30 day return policy so we will sent for it, if I look it over and find flaws, or am totally disapointed I will share it for sure!

Hey all that and I forgot to answer the other question!
It seems to be more self directed, but will need of course encouragement, I did not see any map work suggested... but I have maps and such in a book I had bought from the dollar sale at Scholastics a while back there. My plan with EWH will be to say here it is , do it, then check in to see if she has.
MY plan with bf is to do the same and work to be sure she finds the right books and other research stuff... there are online suggestions to look up certain things in history and write your thoughts or sometimes answer questions in the BF,
WITH BOTH___ i plan to do some side projects as she learns certain things, but she wanted to work on the clothing of the erras and home designs as well on her own side project idea, so with one that will be possible one it wont. The BF you have to purchase another book as it only goes as far as ancient history not Medievil and Rennasance.. I think those are in the same book. There seems to be no teacher study guide for either book, just a note to teachers about the study type thing? I guess.

Would you order the books with it? Or just get them from the Library or a used book store or something?

the books for the EWH, i would get from the library, I think most of them can be found in our system and many we already have on the bookshelf behind me.
that makes it a lot less, at liek 85 dollars, and I think Ebay may have them for ten or fifteen less than that...
