Well, this is homeschool(ing), but homeschool(ers) in the news.... Sad story but everyone made it out! http://www.wvec.com/news/topstories 10:09 AM EST on Thursday, December 13, 2007 By 13News Last week, a family with fourteen children lost their home to a fire. An eletrical issue caused flames to shoot through the house on Prentis Place in Portsmouth. Johanna Camp and many of her children were decorating the Christmas tree when it happened, but they all made it out of the house. Some of the credit for their successful exit may go to the fact that they practice fire drills as part of their homeschooling. "This one had done ran upstairs already and they ran up there and threw everybody off the bed and get 'em downstairs," recalled Camp. "They came downstairs holding hands like crabs, and they was calling out each other name." For now, most of the family is staying in hotels, thanks to help from their church. They want to return to their house, but will need more financial help to make it ipossible since they face paying rent on top of their existing mortgage. If you would like to help the family, you can reach them through their church, Calvary Revival in Norfolk at 321-9700 or 587-7000.
Oh my gosh...I'm so glad they all made it out safely. What a terrible thing to happen at Christmas. I know we will be practicing fire drills from now on.....1st lesson is tomorrow!
