I am planning a party for a number of children and parents and want to cook most of the food in advance. I am not one who usually freezes food…so advice on a couple dishes would be greatly appreciated. Curry: I’d like to do a curry for the adults, green or red made w/ coconut milk but I’ve never heard of anyone freezing curries made w/ coconut milk. Does anyone know if this would be okay to freeze? Failing that, does anyone have a recipe for a good, spicy curry I can freeze (I’d do Country Captain, but my guests would probably prefer something with a kick.). A nicely-colored curry would be a plus, but I’ll take taste over looks any day. Meatballs: I’d also like to give those grape jelly crock pot meatballs a go. I can’t find meatballs in the grocery, so they’ll be made/frozen this week. Before they go into the crock pot should I thaw/brown them?
well, I always bake my meatballs before freezing them then you could just pop them in the crockpot. If you are freezing raw meatballs I would think you need to brown them first. You don't have to thaw them first either if you don't want to but it depends on when you plan on putting them in and adjusting the time accordingly.
