As I was eating my taquitos, I realized my mouth felt different in the back. So I felt around with my tongue and half of my tooth is gone! It is my back, right molar. I had problems with it in the past but swept it under the carpet. BIG MISTAKE! My dentist is closed, Western Dental is closed, and 1-800-DENTIST said every dentist in the three cities over are closed or they do not have a listing for them! WAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! I want to have it pulled because it has a couple sharp ends that keep stabbing my inner cheek. Well, after tomorrow morning I will officially have one less tooth. I will join the ranks with my sisters who all are missing at least one molar. Well, needless to say, I will never look at taquitos the same! LOL
If you are able to get a crown on it I would recommend a crown. When you lose a tooth the other teeth tend to shift as years go by.
I agree to at least ask them about it and see if it's possible! Hope you get it taken care of well and soon!
I am going in first thing in the morning. It is odd, I take my teeth for granted. Now that I have a broken tooth, it is stuck in my brain! LOL EDITED!!!!!! What is wrong with me and my spelling these days! I just typed took instead of tooth! LOL
ugg that sucks! Hubby just broke a molar the other day that we had spent a fortune (and he lived through a ton of pain for) to get a triple root canal on... it was pulled last week We can't afford crowns even with our insurance.
If I have the tooth crowned, I wonder if they will have to do a root canal. If they do, FORGET IT!!!!! They can take it. I can't stand root canals.
I was doing some research online and I am reading that a crown can cost anywhere from $600-$1300, depending on the individual dentist and whether it is gold or porcelain. YIKES!
This site says a crown can cost as much as $3100. That is a lot of money. I thought $1300 was a lot! http://www.aboutcosmeticdentistry.com/procedures/tooth_crowns/candidate.html
Yes, they are supposed to do a root canal to put on the crown, but not all do. Our insurance pays 80%, for his root canal we had to pay just under $200, for a crown on top of that it would have been another $250.
My sister has 2 crowns on her front teeth, she fell as a young kid roller skating and broke them off, they were given root canals immediately and built up with amalgam (white filling material) quite a few times when she was growing up because it would break off frequently. Once she was 17 they finally could put perminate crowns on, each one was $1200. My mom had to take out a loan to pay for them because she didn't have insurance to cover them.
I called this morning and they said they could take me in today. Then I remembered that my niece was with me and Ems. I couldn't take them both in with me. So I made an appointment for tomorrow at 3:00pm. Thanks for asking!
Uggg.. while I was sitting in the drs this afternoon waiting for Cameron to get his shots (he got 5 today the poor little guy :cry, I was thinking of you and the dentist. Good luck tomarrow. Let us know how you make out!
