Someone gave me a BJU reader for science. I like the look of it, but I'm wondering if you need to buy both teacher guides too.

If I bought the activity book, do I need the activity teacher guide and the text teacher guide? It seems like a lot to have to buy 2 teacher guides.

    Is it worth it?

    Thanks all!

I didn't think so (a fifth grade one). It was ok but not brilliant, and it's SO set up for schools.

Right now we're preferring Rod & Staff science. It's set up like a typical textbook - vocab, some reading, some questions to answer. About 4 or 5 lessons per unit (although one lesson might take a couple of class periods to complete), with a unit review at the end. One student book, one TM, and one test book. The test answers are in the TM.

You can see samples at www.milestonebooks.com.

Thanks. That helps. I was looking at the preview of the activity guide and it seems really worksheet based. So, I think I'll skip it. I'll just use the reader so he can get some reading practice and deepen his understanding of the topics. Then we'll make our own activities based on his interest.

My kids have it at their Lutheran school. Frankly, I am not all that impressed. I chose to go with Apologia for my son I homeschool. He likes it. We're studying Land animals.

My oldest is doing the Apologia Land animals book, but i'm having trouble getting my 7 yo engaged. It's a perfect fit for my oldest though.
