Hmmm, I had to try and decide which one of these threads about the California "situation" to reply to.

I am in California. I was homeschooled in California beginning 24 years ago! I am very concerned about this ruling and about the statement by the Superintendent.

I can't say I now what is the best thing to happen but something should. I do know that the best thing we can all do is pray. God knows the solution and He can do much more than we can!

What bothered me most about what the Superintendent said was that he hoped that all parents would want to put their children in public schools! Sounded to me like maybe he's in denial about the state of California Public schools. Even if I some day decide to put my kids in ps it won't be in Cali, and even if I put them in somewhere else, I would never think that ps is for everyone, just the same way I don't think hs is for everyone now!

Shudder, I hope this all passes before next school year begins.

This is what Handsome and I were discussing. California public schools are crumbling. It seems that it is almost beyond the point of return. We would move before we put Ems in one of our public schools.
In ballet tonight, I was talking to a mom who is a teacher at one of our Jr high schools. They recently went into lock down because a student had a gun. People said they heard shots. Since her class was outside at the time, she took her class to the cafeteria. She realized her daughter was no longer with them. Somebody from the school police asked if she was okay and she darted out, leaving her students. She finally found her daughter in another class. Somehow her daughter fell behind and another teacher grabbed her and pulled her into his class. The lady was reprimanded for leaving her class. She told the principle that he could fire her because her daughter is her first priority. She said that her mommy instinct kicked into high gear and all she could think of doing was getting to her daughter.
