Hi I'm new to the board but have been homeschooling my son,7, and my daughter, 5. A friend of mine is giving us the Hooked on Phonics program and I was wondering what your thoughts were on it. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet but wanted to get some insight from anyone that might have used it.
Mine is an older version. My daughter did extremely well with it. She loves music and that helped a lot. We made a game of it. I highly recommend it.
My two have the new Hooked on Phonics and we love it. They love playing the games they didn't even know at first they were learning as they were having so much fun. We make it a family game. We I teach the girls I try to make Fridays a day of fun and we do Hook on Phonics as a family game. I think your kids will love it mine even ask is it time for Hook on Phonics yet mommy. I've never used it but...the feedback I have heard from it, is that it isn't worth the money. Have you tried www.starfall.com it's a real cute interactive reading website for kids. My ds loved this site and will still on occassion want to *play it*. They sing silly little songs. The silent e at the end of the word makes the a say (long) A. Then ones for ar, ir, er, ur - you get the point. Alrighty...deep breath as Tina and I have our big Open House tonight.
Thanks for the input. I'll have to checkout that website. The plus side is even if they don't like it we are getting it for free so it's worth checking it out. And if they do like it even better.
