    OK, picking ya'lls brain.....

Any suggestions for getting the kids to notice things needing done without telling them? Don't get me wrong, the kids are good of doing what I ask, but I'm tired of asking. Tired of being the one to look around and see what needs done and asking them to do it. Am I the only one? Is this just a product of teens that will last until they turn 30?

I would every now and then walk through a room and ask, "Does anyone see anything that needs doing here?" Someone should surely ask,"like what?" to which I would suggest a thing or two. And now and then walk through a room and say, "Thank you for doing xxx, whoever did it!" Eventually someone will get the idea.

My kids have been the same way, but recently, my older two(15 and 17) have really stepped up and started doing things like sweeping or general pick-up without being asked. Dd15 has cooked dinner all on her own several nights in the past two weeks. I still have to ask for some things to be done, but it is nice to see them taking some initiative!

No, I don't have any ideas, but I will enjoy following this thread.

I just don't understand how my son can walk through a room with a really dirty tile floor (because of the rain) and not want to clean it. However, he does clean pretty well when asked and he says he wants to keep his house VERY clean.

***My son also once thanked me for making him clean after realizing that most of his friends live like slobs.
