Well we just got inform that hurricane Ike was coming to the gulf of Mexico and going to hit us head on as a Cat. 3.
They have been closing things down already. Dh and I decide to wait and see they say it's not suppose to hit till Saturday thats a ways to go yet. It could still turn...
We do have all the things ready we need ready which is important, are we leaving don't know yet? Going to see what happens and go from there. My little one says mom they have told us 6 times already and nothing hits. Well you can only be lucky so long I told her. Maybe one more time. who knows it's not up to us to decide right now. IT's mother nature.. she's the boss....

Stay safe. Kris, and don't wait too long to come inland! We're supposed to get 100+ mph winds here in SA Friday night. We're going to be moving all of our outdoor furniture to the shed!

Kris, How far are you from the water? Please stay safe and don't wait too long to get out. How is your mother in law dealing with the idea of rough weather?

Kris, I just saw that the hurricane looks as if it will come ashore at Portland and head to San Antonio, before turning north. I think you need to get ready!

Talking to neighbor who just moved in and was born and raise in this area. He is boarding up too. DH is over there helping him he is 88 we will start ours tomorrow.

Oh by the way I don't know how much I will be on here the next few days have tons of things to do to get ready here. They are telling us a big hit right now. but it still could turn it's not in he gulf yet. But, I want to be ready in case. If we lose power I may be off awhile. Just as note for anybody who is leaving the storm areas. Austin has NO HOTEL rooms. The aclu is this weekend and they are booked full. We are expected to get 45+ mph winds and tornadoes, so I don't really know if that is leaving or following a path for least distruction to head towards Austin.

Anyways I jsut wanted to mention that. Stay safe Kris. You and your's are in my prayers for safety, and a quick return to normal after the storm.

Yep, good ole Ike got everyone running around here. We are boarding up tonight, the girls and I are putting everything that will fly away. I made a phone call to our insurance company everything is in place there. They are loading buses and taking the eldery and sick out of town today and tomorrow. (That darn bus wouldn't take my MIL) LOL Schools are closing left and right as they need the buses to get people out of town and they want families to be safe. DD play practices are cancelled.

Need to run to bank for money this afternoon, gas up and we are mostly ready... All we can do is sit now and hope it doesn't hit to hard. Even they are saying 111 mile hour winds.

I know you all are saying leave, well dh can't leave and I love that man and wouldn't leave with out him. If we go we go together. But, we will watch and see what happens I will not put my two precious cargo in jerpordy for nothing. I might be dumb to some you ladies but I am not that dumb...

Stay safe those along the coastline

We're in S.A. approximately 180 miles inland. The forecasters are predicting that we could have hurricane conditions. That has not happened here since I was a little girl and I am 43 years old now.

Our apartment building is prone to flooding. Our apartment sits below ground level and when it rains heavily, I start praying.

Today, we are putting plants and patio furniture in the storage room and trying down the patio table and what can't fit indoors.

Praying for all those in it's path.

Here's the newest path projections. The folks at the NHC are reminding people that they are historically off by up to 200 miles on the 2-3 day predictions, so that leaves a wide leeway for this storm... Everyone, please take care!!

    We are watching this carefully.
We will likely lose power so I am sending DH to get bottled water, can goods, ice, etc.

I have several Coleman lanterns that are charged up and ready. I hope we don't get the heavy rains.

We are one county in from the coast of Galveston.

We are boarding up and staying home. The trampoline is down, the tanks are full, the gas cans are stocked and the water, ensure, protein bars, beef jerky and mixed nuts are packed. House packed with seven a dog, a cat and a gerbil, all three of which who want to eat each other! hahaa!

My house is sooo dark from the windows being boarded up, it is weird.
