And how! Once August rolls around, it feels like summer is practically over, even though it isn't! Sigh. This summer has been especially stressful, busy, etc., for our family. I'm hoping and praying that things will calm down soon. I'm just looking forward to having a routine again. Of course, I've always been partial to "back to school" days, since I was a little girl! My dh and ds don't quite understand me!! LOL

I started my kids back today with a half schedule, just Science and SS today. I am past sick of hearing about how "bored" they are. If only they knew what the future held for them...

Me, I hate fall and winter. Absolutely. Even spring rates down there. Summer is my absolute heart. My husband is with you girls, he loves fall. He likes to razz me when it's really bitter and ask 'Isn't it invigorating?' I answer "NO!!!!"

My vote is in for fall, too, and not just cuz it's my namesake (my first name is Autumn) . I always loved back to school time. In fact, I was just reminiscing yesterday about how my brothers and I would all sit on the livingroom floor with our sacks of school supplies and get them all ready in their respective cigar-type school boxes. And nothing quite smells like the halls of the school in late August. What is that smell, anyway????

LOL....well, my house doesn't smell that way, but my kids get just as excited about the supplies! I still need to set a date to begin as I am waiting for my science and history curriculum to arrive in the mail. We had unschooled in the past, but after we organized the kids' rooms over the summer and ds exclaimed, "OH, MOM! It all has labels!!!!! Whew-hoo!", I thought maybe we needed a bit more structure  . Be thinking of me, will ya? I am trying to change my name to Perfect Paula   .

I'm with Becky ... I love SUMMER  We seem to have been cheated out of our summer this year in Eastern Canada. Too many overcast or rainy days with one sunny one. Although, I shouldn't complain much. Here in the country, we've had wayyyyyyyyy better weather than the people in the city, 40 mins away.

And Brooke ... I, too, always loved back to school time and the smell of school books and the cleanliness of it all. At least it USED to be that way. I think it was the carpets, believe it or not. No, I'm not nuts LOL. Then we moved here from Ontario and I never saw carpeted floors in school again.

    HAHAHAHA Brooke !!!

My school has carpet too !!! Wellllllll ... some of it is torn up at the moment because I'm having the walls done, but there's a brand new carpet waiting to go down. :D

I'm imagining the smell right now !!! :p

I may even get REALLY lavish and buy real-wood pencils ... oh man do THEY ever smell great!!! The kids always love dollar-store pencils or ones with characters on them because of the neat designs, and they look at me like I'm NUTS  when I smell real-wood pencils, but they're catching on  . I've even seen THEM sneak a sniff here and there LOL. :p

Yes, I'm highly olfactory ... moreso than visual I think.
