I am trying to work out our curriculum for you this upcoming year. Do you find when doing a letter of the week type thing that it is best to also do a theme ? A example is letter A week would also be apples. I think it would be way easier for me to do A is without a certain theme. A example is apples, airplanes and a few other things. It seems so hard to stick to one theme per letter . Do you think doing that way is too confusing for my kids though ?

I tend to stick to one theme mostly because that's the curriculum I bought, printed, laminated etc four years ago for my oldest. But I don't see anything wrong with including other words that start with A. In fact one of the activities in our curriculum is a scavenger hunt - so finding things in the house that start with the letter of the week. I think it's optimal to at least discuss other words that begin with the letter. Maybe make a list at the start of the week and hang it somewhere visible for the week and add to it as the child thinks of other words?
