No one has posted here in a long time. Is anyone still watching? They have changes the Wavelit site, it is a little different and does not just come up with the Africam we all used to love. There are several cameras to choose from now and I have been waiting 5 mins. for the camera to load. Anyway, I just thought I'd check here.
Thanks for reminding us about this! I haven't been on there forever. I've been watching it on and off for several hours. At one point there was a HUGE herd of water buffalo that came running to, and into, the water. There were so many milling about that some were bellowing, wanting to get a drink. There were quite a few babies with them as well. There was one water buffalo that didn't want to leave the watering hole. He kept wallowing in the water at the side of the hole, then he'd look like he was going to walk out of the water, but he'd bellow and turn around and go back. He was having a blast, I guess. It just started pouring rain there - sounds neat. I think it's going to be dawn there soon as the birds started chattering. It says it's 5:32 a.m. there.
thanks, Kim I remember our hang out every morning here. I miss it with the gang. thanks for bringing it back up.
I got this in an email today....I can't go look at the waterhole now because I am at work, but I thought I would share it. Looks like it's time for a waterhole gathering!! LOL “AFRICAM BRING YOU THE BIG 5 IN 6 HOURS AT NKORHO Yes it’s true. The Big 5 were all spotted by our camera on Saturday at the Nkorho waterhole. We are busy trying to find out if this is a record for a static live streaming camera. It would not surprise us as Africam we were the first to capture a lion kill and a Wildebeest give birth…….. For all of those of you who missed all the action, Aquila has put together a video package for everyone to enjoy. I think she deserves a big THANK YOU and I am sure we will all enjoy it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkTH4rySQss There have been some fantastic sightings at NK and EP recently so be sure to keep on watching the live cameras like a hawk……” So let’s spread the word and carry on making Africam the best wildlife website on the net! Chat soon, The Africam Team (Campbell, Jon, Paul & Ryan) Always Wild, Always Live
I sure miss the old way we used to view the waterhole. This new stuff gets too complicated. It will never top that Christmas "dinner" we got to see!
Thanks for reminding us about this. That video was pretty neat. We watched a couple of the others as well.
Yes, I was just thinking I don't like all the lights in the area, it makes it hard for me trying to see what animal it is. I saw that it was supposed to be a lion but all I saw was light Lol how many vehicled did they have in there anyway? That whole row of lights it showed at one point?
I just went back to take a look at our old Africam site. It is not the same as it was back when we were all so into it, but it isn't as complicated as I thought it would be. I can see the old waterhole but there aren't any animals there right now. I did hear what sounded like a lion roaring and of course the usual night sounds. I remember sitting here for hours trying to see a rhino. It was so cool when I finally got to see one. One night we watched for hours to see what a huge thing was under the water and it turned out to be a hippo. Ahhh good times.
I loved watching the Africam, too! It doesn't work very well with Firefox now - or at least it didn't last time I tried. And I really hate the ads. I haven't tried for a long time, though. I'll try again. Thanks for the wonderful memories!!!
Ok, this is so cool, there are about 6 zebras at the water hole right now, it is almost 1 am central time.
There are three zebras there now. I love watching them. Oh shoot. I was watching a video from earlier. I like to watch the live camera best.
We would have to have whoever posted the first post edit their link... heck I forget what the link is now, but was just thinking of the watering hole yesterday because I'm thinking of doing the HOAC Zebra labpook with the kids finally. Funny that this was pulled from the dark recesses of the board.
