I am looking for a science curriculum for my oldest for next year. She'll be in 7th grade, and finished Christian Kids Explore Biology this year. She loves Abeka, but their 7th gr. curriculum covers much of the same as CKEB. Any suggestions? Happy Valentine's Day!

You probably already know this. Christian Kids Explore series has a book on chemistry and a book on physics.

TOPS has a lot of science books. Many if not all of their books incorporate science and math. You can find them on line. AIMS also has some good science books. You can find them on line also. I have used TOPS and AIMS for the younger years and enjoyed them.

I would look at doing Apologia General Science for 7th grade.

Sonlight uses tops until around 7th grade and then it uses apologia. I've used abeka, apologia and simple schooling.

Another vote for Apologia. We're using the Gen Science for my oldest....and will use the Physical Science next. (We also use the Elementary series for the younger 2).

If she likes Abeka, you could just move on to the 8th grade stuff. I've liked Apologia, too. Haven't tried BJU, but you could look at that one. Right now I'm pretty committed to Rod & Staff through tenth grade - it's not single-subject like life science, earth science, physical science, biology, chemistry, physics, but rather has a mixture of topics including health/human body through tenth.

Thanks for the input, ladies! You've given me lots to look into...my sister also did Apologia. I've done the Christian Kids Explore Biology with all of mine, but from what I've heard, the chemistry is too involved to do with one student. Better with a group. My oldest will be in 7th grade next yr. and I have a fifth and a second grader next year as well. I'm open to any suggestions for the other grades as well!

    3girlmom,

For second grade and possibly fifth grade you may want to look into Considering God's Creation by Susan Mortimer. My son liked it a lot and my daughter never got into it. It is not what I would think of has a typical science book. I was pleased with how much my son learned.
