I think Jerry has it, have any of you had experience with it? He has been to the Dr. and is on 2 weeks of doxycyline. Thanks, Mary :?:
Does he have a red circle around a former tick bite? What are his other symptoms? I know that men are notorious for not giving their physician ALL of the symptoms they are experiencing. If he has a fever and arthritic joints he needs to be seen again. If he is actually experiencing problems with the nervous system he needs to go to the hospital immediately. I'm by no means a doctor, but Lyme Disease is nothing to mess with.
Years ago, I had a tick bite that developed a ring around where the bite had been. I went to the dr. and he said Missouri wasn't a Lyme disease area (at least it wasn't way back when), but that Lyme disease is nothing to mess around with, so he put me on a course of antibiotics. He said the tests (at the time) weren't too accurate, you could get a false positive or a false negative. Hence, his advice to go ahead with meds. I don't like to take antibiotics unless they are necessary, but also didn't want to get really sick with Lyme disease! Long story short, I took the antibiotics and I've never had any further symptoms. Blessings, Anne
Jerry does have the circular ring, it is rough and now is decreasing in redness. After looking online at lyme disease web pages I am much more concerned. He does have some joint pain in his knees and is "sore". He is working in Western Oklahoma at present. Think I will find a dr. in OKC that is "up" on this kind of problem. Please pray for him. Thanks Mary
