If anyone is still looking or if it was already posted sorry
But here you go any ways

    Ice Cream in a Bag

    makes 1 serving

    1/2 cup milk or cream
    2Tbsp Sugar
    1tsp vanilla
any ice cream goodies you like

1 quart size resealable freezer bag
    1 gallon size freezer bag
    crushed ice
    rock salt

Mix the milk, sugar and vanilla in the guart bag, carefully push the air out of the bag and seal
Place this bag in the gallon size bag
Add crushed ice and several spoons of rock salt to the gallon bag
    Remove excess air and seal
while holding the sealed edge shake and roll the bag for about 10 to 15 minutes
Once ice cream freezes open the larger bag and remove quart size bag.
Add any kind of goodies you like and eat it right out of the bag

We are going to give it a try next week.

Thanks, Amy! I know I mentioned it when we were talking about making butter, but I don't think anyone said how to do it. And, while I've done it, I wasn't in charge and didn't remember.

CAUTION!!! (This I DO remember!!!) Be VERY CAREFUL to not let any of the salted ice from the gallon bag into your quart bag. You would be wise to carefully rinse off the quart bag before opening it. We learned from experience that even a little salt does NOT enhance the flavor of the ice cream, lol!

make sure you tape up the zip top and some on the bottom too, we had a disaster.... I guess our bags were just thin or something but it broke into the ice part.

I was thinking I better buy good bags. I usually get cheap bags, but for this one I think I need the better ones.
    thanks for the heads up

We made this before and it turned out yummy. The kids complained their hands got cold even with gloves on! The other day we saw a plastic ball that was made just for making ice cream this way. The ingredients went into an aread in the middle of the ball and then the kids roll it back and forth to each other until it's ready. Pretty fun idea!

Here's a link if you want to see one.

you can also use coffee cans (the small one inside a bigger one). After sealing properly you can roll the can back and fourth).
