    Hi to everyone,

I am a mom in Maryland homeschooling two of my children, one fourteen (he has special needs), and one eight (second grade). This is my first post on this forum.

I really enjoy homeschooling, but right now I am concerned my kids are not getting the chance at friendships that I would like to see. So many get-togethers for homeschoolers center on structured or highly planned activities with large numbers of kids and little chance (it would seem) for casual talking and spontaneous play. We've done a pretty good amount of that, but those trips tire me out without resulting in what I'm looking for, especially in the way of friends for the kids.

Anyone else see it/experience it that way?

    Joan

IDK, Joan. We've been homeschooling for so long without any opportunity for that kind of friendships to develop that we're glad to have a park day now and again with a small group of moms. The kids are almost all younger than my ten year old, but they don't seem to care. Maybe you could organize a simple park day like that? where the "planned activity" is free association among kids and among parents?
