I hate doing something when I'm not completely ready, but today we went ahead and started our schooling. We didn't get much done though. We got up later than I wanted to,The boys were grumps, and hubby had to have me take him out of town to get some pain meds for his back. UGH.. Tomorrow hubby has 2 doctors appointments. Unless he wants me to go, I'm staying home and getting some school done.. Maybe we'll just ease back into the routine again this week. Doing the basics and adding the other courses next week..Things should go better once we get back into the habit of having school. I SO wish that we would've stuck with schooling through the summer....

I hear you! We started today as well. That was after spending my time Sunday with DH cleaning (I mean really deep cleaning) the kitchen to find the mouse hiding in our house. We found it all right...in our bedroom! It ran and hid. So we set traps and slept in the living room. But I slept in 30-45 minute chunks of time every 2 hours after going to bed at 1. Oh, yesterday was supposed to be my final organization and writing out plans for the week. Not what I had planned, but we stopped schooling in early May and came back late, so we just went for it!

P.S. We caught the mouse and I got a good nap. I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep:D.

Same here. I'm not at all together this year, first time I've ever felt that way!

It's okay, mommi, it'll come together eventually!

Today was our first day. I didn't have a DAY this summer to go to school and get my stuff in order. Between dh and me, and my friend who relies on us for transportation, and all our doctor appts, her cardiologist, hearing aids, and eyes, dh's pain management dr, regular dr, and eyes, and my regular dr appts and eyes, and cataract surgery.... There was SOMEthing every single week, and if there wasn't any of these, then it was bad weather, or those naggy little illnesses that come and go (like sinuses, stomach upset, or just tired and achy). BUT WE STARTED TODAY! We got each of the two kids a lesson in Bible, Reading, English, spelling, penmanship, and math - not so bad considering we quit at 2pm today! Only thing we didn't get to at all was history and science. We moved a LOT of stuff and played "pilot" (pile-it over here, pile-it over there.....)

All in all it was a pretty satisfying day, considering that my coffeemaker died first thing this morning, and a white-out pen threw up all over me this afternoon....

Disorganization reigns here right now. I told my kids last night that we wouldn't be starting school for another month! I'll have to start then whether I am ready or not. We finished in mid-July and we will probably move again this school year so I expect to finish late again.

oh seems like I am that way alot. Just do what you can this week and add as you can that is what we do when we have weeks or days like that. It all gets done and seems to work out.

Seems like a common theme lol... we are totally disorganized and today was pretty bumpy. We are in the process of moving 600 miles away. We were supposed to move Sept 1st but our buyer backed out so we are back to not having an official moving date.

In the mean time, half of our stuff is at our new house, and the other half here in our current house. The last time I was at the new house I set up our classroom area, put together our desks and workboxes, and organized everything. This past week we were at the new house doing more painting and I had to bring home the first few months worth of school work since I dont know when we will be back. I am so disorganized I could cry. It took us 13 hours to drive home this past weekend and today we slept in until 10am! We did manage to get some work done, but not in an orderly fashion.

But that's what's so great about homeschooling! You can learn while travelling (learning travel games, anyone?), while moving - space, weights, costs, miles, miles per gallon, cost of moving, cost of living, what is different? What is the same?; while cooking, while, doing laundry, for that matter! Isn't it great!?!

Can you tell I've had a few years off? And now I'm only starting preschool w/grandson.... lol. :)

    I hate to admit...me too.
I hardly slept last night, getting the study room all cleaned up and organized.
so, I was so tired when my dd woke up "Mom,it's the first day of school!!!"
    On the positive side,
I welcomed them to the new school year, intrduced them to their books.
we started TT and reading and math game.
they were surprised that we didn't do much. It's the first day,I wasnted them to move into it gradually.
tomorrow on the other side is a full day.they have co-op class from 9:30-3:30.
