hello all~ I am writing a 25 week unit study on the 50 states. We will study 2 states a week in the order admitted into the union! I would like the lesson to 'come alive' for the kids. You can help!! I would like at least 1 family from each state. We would like to get a family picture (to put on our large US map), a postcard and something special/unique from your state/area. Ideas, Nevada~casino chip, something from Hoover Dam~Pennsylvania, Hersheys, Liberty Bell~Delaware, Fishers caramel corn and the list goes on. We want it to be cheap and simple but still resresent your state/area. If you are interested in helping us please email me (vanbreemenmom@aol.com). If you know of anyone else who may want to participate please give them my email! We will personally respond to each family with a picture, letter and gift from California! Thanks for your help! Not what you are asking for, but I stumbled acrosss these free worksheets today about all of the states: http://www.superteacherworksheets.com/states.html looks very cool. Separate pages for each state plus report sheets.

FYI, Enchanted Learning has good worksheets on states. Also, write to the department of tourism. Sometimes the stuff they send you is junk, but sometimes it's rich with all kinds of information! I'm in Central Ohio.
