i didn't see anywhere else to post this... i'm calyn, currently living in missouri, soon moving to alaska. i have three kids, jesse 9, rebecca 6 and dakota renee' 14 months. we've been homeschooling now since july 1, and i'm loving it. can't say the kids are yet, as they feel like they aren't in "real" school. :roll: i've been married for 9 and half years to robbie, who used to live in alaska and wants like mad to move back up there. anyway, thought i'd say hi and introduce myself. *waves big* HI! calyn

Welcome aboard.....and might I add that I am so envious! I'm in IL, born and bred here but I've always wanted to live in Alaska. This is my second year homeschooling, but not in a row. We did public school, then homeschool, then public school, and now homeschool again--and for good! :lol: I know what you mean about the kids being used to going somewhere else to school. It might take them a bit to "de-school", but once they do I'm sure they will come to enjoy and appreciate their home so much more. I have an 8yo boy and a 5yo girl. Hope to see you post often!

Welcome, Calyn - I'm in Missouri, too. Springfield, to be exact. I've never been to Alaska (and chances are I'll never make it that far), but I know it's beautiful there.

Truddy, i'm only 100 miles southeast of you! i'm in springfield every little bit, as my best friend is there and my brother in law, who is moving back up to alaska is in springfield. i'm in a lot of homeschooling groups on yahoo, and i'm owner to one for missouri on yahoo, but i figure you can never have too much support as a parent and especially as a homeschooling parent! thanks again for the welcome.

Jackie reporting in from Ohio! I'm starting Year 6 this year, with DD (10), DD(8), and DS (4 1/2). Brooke, I never knew you wanted to live in Alaska! When I graduated from college, I wrote to somewhere in Anchorage, and they sent me the address of every school district in the state. And what happened? I now live about a mile from the house I grew up in, LOL!
:lol: I got ya beat....I'm less than 1/2 mile away......and still on the family farm! :lol: I also had a big thing for wolves, which would have been one of the things that drew me to Alaska even before Northern Exposure was on TV and I figured that Alaska must be full of "Chris" kinda guys 8) .....turns out I found mine in Iowa of all places! :shock: (If my hubby reads this....I love you!!!!)
