This isn't a homeschool news item as much as it is a Public School story, but it is one more reason for me to add to my "Why I homeschool" list. One of our local news stations ran a story on juvenile sex offenders in school. This is something I would never have thought about. I can't post links yet, but the story can be summed up by quoting just one line: "Dozens of juvenile sex offenders go unnoticed by students and parents at local schools -- because they simply don't know."
What kills me is that an elementary age kid can get charged with sexual assault for hugging another kid but a teacher can have sex with a student and be allowed to just resign and go to another district to do the same thing. Sorry that was not about this but it brought that fact to mind. Ps are so screwed up there is just no hope for them.
I never even thought about that aspect of the public school... :-( Glad that I hs my kids even more! :-0
It's more common than you can imagine. Trust me - I teach in a high school. We have a lot of kids of restricted travel - we have to escort them EVERYWHERE!! It's really hard to imagine...
