    Hey everybody,

My husband and I are interested in looking into online homeschooling programs but we are having trouble finding very many alternatives. I'm not interested in charter schools.

Anyone out there know of some good programs? I'd be interested to see what's out there as well as the enrollment costs.

The best one I've found so far is Learning by Grace. They seem to have a relatively professional service. This is exactly what I'm looking for, but I wanted to check out other programs to compare.

    Thanks!!!

    What grade?
Several companies offer a service where you mail things in to them for grading.

    K12
    Calvert

    Grade is most helpful though.....

What age/grade level are you needing? That helps to know how to answer your question.

Hewitt Homeschool Resources is one that offers teacher evaluation services and enrollment.

Tomorrow I will try to get back on here to post links to more organizations that offer services to homeschoolers.

Teacher Mom, You can contact Alpha Omega for technical help. Check their website and look for a phone number. We used some SOS a few years ago. My husband talked to someone from Alpha Omega on the phone that helped him set it up.

Cool Sherry, Thanks for answering that. I never did SOS, so I don't know how it works. I remember a couple of years ago someone couldn't get it to set up on their computer, but I don't know what became of that. WOnder why it seems hard to install?

    Jonnyrocketti,
Please come back and let us know if any of this is helpful. Also, are you interested in links to other options like All-in-One school packages with teacher evaluations or school subjects on computer cd's ?

well, it works fine on my big computor, but I want it on my lap top for tuesday mornings when I do ladies Bible study.. the plan was for ds9 to take his school with so he can work while we do, but I think I may have to leave the computor work home and let them do art, or writing work during LBS. PE is also incorporated on that day as we have a great GYM and when noone is in it we take over on Tuesdays! They do BBALL and other fun sports lessons

Teacher Mom, When we used SOS my husband was able to call and talk to a technical support person. They were able to help him with his questions. If you cannot find a phone number on their site you may want to ask in an email if they can give you one or call the order phone number and ask if they have a phone number. I hope you get the help you need.

    TeacherMom,
Let us know how your shoulder is doing and how your SOS installation turned out. I never had to install it since my husband did it.

Well, at this point I have emailed and am still waiting, have to find that number but have a Baseball game to go to today. My shoulder hurts this morning, but the kids earned tickets from the Giants Baseball Team themselves and its JR Giants day! ANyone watching the game look in the crowd of kids! The boy whose birthday it is , thats my dd's coach's son!
We are riding Bart to game cause kids ride free today so walking a mile or so to stadium, then around to back side, THEN inside to seats, as well as collecting kids at the "parade" or maybe getting tow alk with them who knows! At any rate, lots of hecktic fun! Lol
I am trusting God that my shoulder will heal up normal wiht out surgery, the only weakness in that prayer is that my arm has certain areas of muscle not working right and my shoulder gets blocked. They were checking for the joint to be in the right place at the MRI and injecting thing so ? Pray it is okay and I am okay heheh! Thanks!
Sos, installed great on Big desk top, so probably will have to go with that, maybe I have not enough MBs?or MHz? whatever they are hahah!

Teacher Mom, I will pray about your shoulder. Also, regarding SOS, will it work to take the laptop to outings to do school work on unless you are using it for all of the lessons ? Because then the work done at that time wouldn't be recorded on the SOS on the computer at home or would you be able to transfer it to the other computer ? Does that make sense ?

yes it makes sense that is what I was thinking too. I am thinking I should just keep it on the Big Computor where my dd's is too. I wanted him to have all of it on my lap top, but I am thinking since its a revamped lap top that it may not have enough mega hoozits to hold what I want..... Oh well life could have been so much easier if it just worked!

Being able to do it while away would be great. Maybe it would help to talk to some technical people from the SOS company. Shucks, it was a good idea to take it with you.
