We had discussed a while back about penpal's. We were signed up to be penpal's with someone but...they never sent us anything and that was back in April. hummm

Anyone have a boy around 8 years old that would like to have a penpal?

That is a hard thing, dd did the same thing in past, she has sent out letters not to have them returned. But now she is not sending one that needed to be sent for a whole month, so maybe it will still come? you never know!

Sometimes getting the writing done is only half the battle. Getting it in the mail box is the rest and us parents need to push a bit I think hehe.
I am glad you started this thread sheila!
hope it works out for your ds!

Well...they were suppose to send the first letter and I've pm'd them and not heard back anything so....I've written them off at this point.

So...that's the good news is that we didn't write a letter only to not get one in return. I just think it would be a fun experience for him.

wow, My dd's love there pen pals my youngest has had hers for over 2 years. The oldest has two one for over 2 years and one for awhile can't remember, what have the girls do in class is write or type to there penpals. We try to do both to get practice in both areas. we also take turns calling each other which the girls love and we send package off on holidays and birthdays and the girls love that too.
She I hope your little one finds someone it's so much fun.
might want to try e mail first if you find one, that works.

my dd had a pen pal for years through a kids magazine, they were good buddies and the gal wrote when she went on a trip , they ended up exchanging pictures and postcards and gifts even, then all of a sudden she dropped off the face of the earth. The last letter came back no such person.
She was sad, so I am glad she has a new one this time. A while back she tried another pen pal that one never wrote back and the funny thing is you just never know if it got lost in the mail or what when there is no other way to contact them. At least on this list we can check in with one another, I really like the pen pals they have from here so far, just because I know the parents are contactable and I can msg them and visa versa.

is your 10 yr a girl or boy Glow, I keep wanting to write Glowy, lol that was the name of a toy my ds had when he was a little guy.

Rachael met a girl while our family was camping in Vermont. They've been sending e-mails for several years now off and on. Last summer, the family came through on their way to Missouri, and the girls got together. This summer, they will be linking up again when we go to Pennsylvania.

I've decided that pen pals is sometimes a difficult thing. It hasn't worked out all that well for Phillip or Faythe in the past, and that was as much our fault as the other person's. (In Phillip's case, it was MUCH MORE our fault!!!) I think sometimes it "just doesn't click", and that's OK! Recently, Phillip has begun writing to Ava Rose's son, and he's really excited about that! Faythe is also writing to someone from here, and while it's a bit slow going on both sides, I'm still hoping it will work out!

Well... seeing that this post is about Noah and I, let me reply to it.

Noah has received two penpal letters and just this morning finished them (sorry to admit that he received both of them ages and ages ago). He wants to exchange letters with more people but getting him to sit down and do it can be a challenge. I'm thinking at this point, he will commit to those he has received and we'll probably leave it at that.

I don't spend a lot of time online anymore - very little time on the forum. I don't check private messages like I used to and therefore my my lack of response to anyone who may message me. My family and my work schedule take priority over anything else and so I spend very little time here anymore.

I'm sorry to those who Noah was going to write to... He isn't committed enough to send letters to many many people right now - BUT he will follow through and write letters to the two boys who sent a letter to him (without naming names, I'm sure their moms know who they are). We still have your addresses if and when he is ready to commit to broadening his writing circle.

Hey I can realate! Getting my ds9 to write is not easy either I had to encourage him to write a little each day for a week or so. I wont feel so bad about not sending things fast though so thats a good thing!
I think we moms have to remember that our kids are not used to writing and though we live in a writing world not everyone writes back right away.
I am cool with whenever the letters come to my kids I just keep encouraging the kids that see it takes a while in the mail and all that, it teaches the kids patience and encourages them to write back sooner next time because they waited for the letter to come too.
I just like to check in and make sure things are going or if things were mailed and stuff so I know if I should say go check the mail fred or not.
And I want to say I LOVE Jeremiah 29:11
Thank you for that scripture today!

Glad you could drop in, Brenda. ;) I probably spend more time here than I should but...it's like an addiction. ROFL I should spend more time working on our website. We are gearing up for the annual resource book right now so...once that gets up in high profile I spend A LOT of computer time doing that.

This is a good way to teach patience. You know in a microwave popcorn world where everything comes instantly we need to remember all things take time and it needs to be taught. I need to be taught this again and again actually.
Thanks to all who are my kids penpal and for all the patience and understanding from all the families.
    Blessings and Happy Holiday weekend...

It was so funny with Faythe! Her penpal's mom sent me a PM asking if Faythe had gotten it and all, because (in the child's eyes!) it had been "so long"! Well, it HAD been a little while, but Faythe had actually just posted something. The thing I found amusing (and I shared with the mom!) was that Faythe was asking me just a few weeks earlier if I could send them a PM asking THEM if they had gotten HERS yet! So it DOES help teach patience!
