Everyone from abcteach has probably already seen this, but I thought that I would post it for our new friends here at a-z. I recently made up a deck of phonics playing cards. I use them to play games like "go fish", "uno", "old maid", and "war" with my kids (5yo and almost 4yo)to practice our letter sounds/names and general recognition skills. In the future I hope to add blends, onsets/rimes, etc; but I don't really know when I will get to that with a new baby coming in July and I'm trying to open a daycare. Anyways here is the website so that you can access the files. http://kellyfloydschool.home.mchsi.com They are all in .pdf so everyone should be able to use them. Please give me feed back as to how they work for you and what other kinds of games you come up with. Have fun. Mariann
Mariann, you are a dear I meant to post on abcteach that I had wanted a copy for my son who just turned 4. Presently, we are working on letters and sounds. So this is perfect timing for us. I don't know about everyone else, but when I teach the next kid in line how to read I'm looking for something new or different. Maybe just a refreshing change for MOM or because *I* get bored? hee hee So very kind and gracious of you to offer your work for all us to use Thank you and I will use them Blessings TinaTx
Your welcome Tina. Let me know how it goes. I would love to hear your ideas and suggestions. Let me know if you have any question. My kids absolutely love playing cards and these have been a big hit. They are also great when you have to be running errands, car trips, or those days when you don't feel up to doing school. By the way, my kids already knew how to play the basic games before doing the phonics version. I don't know if this will make a difference with other kids, but it might. Have fun, Mariann
Thanks Mariann! I am certainly going to save those in my files. They will come in handy soon. I appreciate you taking the time to share those with us!!
