My husband's van died AGAIN while at the airport (it happened last May and we had to get a new transmission). Please pray for him/us. We need this car to last a few more years before we can get another one. Right now, he's stuck at the airport....not sure what's happening the rest of this night! Thank you.
Praying that it is an easy fix. We are nursing an old car and are also hoping for it to last another couple of years. I feel your pain. Hope it works out.
Awww...prayed as soon as I read it. We have an old car also...I know exactly what you are going through.
Well, because of the snow and ice, they wouldn't tow it more than 10 miles last night. It's in a town about an hour away from here waiting in a Pep Boys to get fixed. My brother - who lives near the airport - drove my husband home so that I didn't have to go out in ice and snow at 10:00 at night with three kids - what a blessing that was. My husband said, the tow truck driver was amazing, too. So even though it's a pain, God was there and has a purpose in this. We're hoping it's just the alternator and the battery and nothing more serious. The AAA guy seems to think that the alternator went and then it drained the battery and that's why it didn't run. The computer/electrical system MIGHT be okay...we hope. We just replaced the transmission last year on this car, so it HAS to last b/c we're still paying THAT off!!! It's also due for inspection, so we know it needs new brakes...by the end of next week!! Trying to rely on God. I know He is in control. I feel better now that my husband is home and safe.
Praying. I do understand about having to nurse a vehicle. I did for a long time. Pray everytime before you leave in the vehicle. Actually we do this when we leave the first time of any day. We pray for traveling mercies for that day.
YAY!!!! It is NOT the alternator! It is just the battery!!! It's DEAD, dead. Of course, we think it might be 6 or 7 years old, so that makes sense! They're doing some other stuff too, like a new air filter and an oil change, I think b/c the car is way over due. They say it should be done by noon and we can drive down to get it. It is snowing, it is slippery, but at least we can go get it!
Yay! Praise the Lord for answered prayer! We, also, are nursing along an old car, and praying it lasts! My dh just said, last week, that if something else big happens on it, we may have to just let it go and get a different vehicle, whether we can afford it or not. It's not worth putting a thousand or two into a car that could have another huge problem the very next week or month! We're praying for that for us, and now I am praying for that for you, and the others on here who are also nursing along old vehicles!
