My aunt is being moved from her condo into an assisted living place. Actually, she's been in a nursing home for the past few months, and she will be "graduating" to assisted living. And the place is about a mile away, instead of 40 minutes! But anyway, we're trying to clean out her place.

She has a Precious Moments Collection. She has agreed to get rid of about half of them. So I went to this place which is big for collectibles today. They told me that they wouldn't buy ANY of them!!! She said she had close to 800 on display, plus shelves in the back with just about that many. Her boss told her she could only buy ones that they didn't have, which were NONE of mine!

Other than Craig's List or Ebay (neither of which I'm willing to do), does anyone have any ideas how to get rid of these? I now have a box of 16, and that doesn't count the ones she wants to keep! She needs the money for her Assisted Living place.

I honestly don't know if she could afford, but maybe you could get her one or two for Christmas? I read they are "worth" a certain amount, but they sell for literally half of that. So in my mind, they are only "worth" what they will sell for, you know? The prices I've found on-line (which are consistent with the collectible book I got from the library) run from $22 to $75. And, as I said, they are supposedly "worth" double that . Plus shipping.

But honestly, it would be easier for you in the long run to get them from someone close to you. If you want, PM me, and I'll send you a list of what we have. A friend of mine around the corner collects them, too, and some of hers were broken when her house was broken into a while back. So she might want to replace some of the broken ones.

yep my grandma had tons of them and they only go much of nothing. No wants to pay the price for them, they have them if they are collectors. we put them on e bay would never do it again a pain. No one wanted to pay for them and 2 if they did want them wouldn't pay. Just a plain mess.

Really truthful Jackie they aren't worth much as the people that collect them have them. Just enjoy them if you want or if you don't want them I would just get rid of them for whatever you can and be done with it.

Yeah, I think they are only worth something to collectors. I have a few and had some that were broken by the moving company during one of our moves. The company would not reimburse me anything at all for them in my claim. (They did pay for broken furniture.) You might try Craigslist or an online yard sale site (Facebook) but I wouldn't expect too much money.
