I am looking for 3rd grade Science and saw this on the Co-Op. I understand it's been out a year so has anybody used it or know anything about it? Looking at the video on the Co-Op it's used in the classroom setting but they say homeschoolers can use it, too. How hard is it to adapt to homeschool setting? Is it teacher intensive or is it pretty much scheduled for you?
Actually, this is by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, which owns Saxon Publishing, but it has nothing to do with John Saxon whatsoever. The webpage about this product doesn't say anything about it being "Saxon". At the HMH website, I watched most of a video about why Fusion is "the best". To be honest, I wasn't thoroughly impressed. They showed some of their "magazine format" pages, but the pages they showed seemed to have very little content. They must have just been highlighting the pages with the questions and spaces for answers, and skipping the pages with content. They made a big deal out of how the student book and the e-book online teach the same content but in different ways, and how you can tailor it to the individual student. When I worked in public schools, we called that "all the bells and whistles, but no train." I personally would not be excited about it, but if it fits you and your family, then that's a good thing.
