Yes, she needs prayers! She is on the FIAR boards and has posted about this before. That is scary!

I see no reason why HSLDA wouldn't get involved. No, she's not a member, but this kind of thing could spark a nation-wide witch hunt if just one judge is allowed to get away with it. It's certainly in their best interest. In the mean time. I will be praying for her, and for her precious children. That they won't have to spend too long in such a corrupt system. I just don't see how what this judge did was legal at all.

I feel the same Amie! How could he even legally do what he did? Shouldn't he be tossed for not following the laws? I mean, if they're treating her this way, then he should be treated the same way! She IS actually legal, but he is totally NOT! How could this even happen???!!!

Many prayers going up for her!

She needs to go to the media. She should contact every news outlet in her area. I know she would win her case in the court of public opinion.

    This is ridiculous.

Here is alittle bit more to the story, because it didn't make much sense to me being Utah is a very homeschool friendly state.
It doesn't excuse what the judge did...but it makes sense since her SON was in court for charges brought againist him and she needed certain items to be followed for the case to be closed. One being doing good in school/enrolled. Since they had no paperwork to PROVE he indeed had been homeschooled he took action. I for one would get conformation from the district that they recieved my fax and that they send a letter back through saying that they did ( because I'm paranoid like that) and bring that to court as proof that it was sent.
Again not saying the judge is right or that she needs that punishment , just saying there is more to the story......I even think there is WAY more to this but I couldn't find the court records online so that I could learn more about the orginal charges that brought her and her son there in the first place ( beside what she said was just her son hit a girl and its not his fault).

Crystal, thanks! I think whoever wrote that article did a very good job. When Carl read the original article at WDD, he complained about how it dealt more with the situation in Germany, which had little-to-nothing to do with the story.

I thought I had missed a break in the article or something. I assumed they were two different articles on the same page.

This was a surprise...I went on vacation, cleared out my email when I returned and realized I had deleted all the info regarding this forum.

And here I rediscover it via a link to my blog. : )

This woman is in a frightening situation...I didn't like WND's original reporting because it left too many questions which made me suspicious. After researching it a bit, I tend to agree that this judge is a bit unreasonable.

(And yes, there are more than one articles on that page now...I can't post links yet because I have only posted a few times, but if you add /?p=739 to the end it will take you to the entry being discussed.)

Anyway, I am really hoping that UHEA is able to help her and the situation is resolved favorably.

Here is what she said in a post on another board about the situation with her son:

Some people wonder if there is more to this case than I have posted. There really isn't except what got us originally in court was my then 9yos hit a girl in the neighborhood and was charged with assault. My son has Aspergers' Syndrome. This was the 1st and only time any of my children had been charged with a crime. He was give a plea in abeyance with the following stipulations-40 hours of community service, complete anger management, to do okay in school, and not to get in any more trouble for one year. He completed everything and the charges were dismissed. They took exception with the school part because I homeschool and the school district says it never received my affadavit last year.

And here is the post from last night:

We are no longer in Utah. I took my children, some clothes and essential homeschool items and left our home. We are starting over. We don't when or if we will be able to go back and get our stuff.

    Thank you for your support.

I don't know if this means they are on the run or moving or what. It is a sad situation!

Good! I think he DEFINITELY needs to be investigated! What happened to the rights of citizens in this country?! Especially since she's not doing anything wrong---Homeschooling is LEGAL!
