Did anyone tonight see the Super Nanny show with the homeschool family that their teenage daughers were raising the kids?

It was horrible I felt so sorry for the girls. Of course I know the TV show will sometimes show only what they want to show to make it better for ratings but how can they lie about their whole day?

The mom and dad leave to work leaving the girls to raise their three boys and they can't even get them on the phone sometimes. The older girl had rings under her eyes that was no makeup, she looked so exhausted. They were failing their online course and never had time to do it or a social life.

I hope they don't go back to their old ways for the girls sake.

    I couldn't watch. I watched for 5 minutes and just couldn't watch.

I hate when people abuse a system for their own selfish purposes.

I am so glad those girls got help.

    How sad. :(

In most of states there must be adult supervision. I would suspect after this show was aired the family might be target for child services contact.

I think the show just made the parents look bad. It seemed to me that the parents simply did not want to pay for child care. Personally, I think for that family the kids should have been in daycare and the girls in school. I think school would be better for those girls if the parents are only using the girls as maids and daycare providers. Not once in the whole show did either parent mention the importance of school or a conviction on homeschooling so I think they were just using their older daughters. Very sad.

Oh, I saw it and it upset me so much that the mother would not step up and raise her own kids. She was making the girls do so much that the older one fainted during a time when they were supposed to be talking. I think it was because she was so overwhelmed and was scared to say anything to her parents for fear that they would be upset with her.

What was the plan the Super Nanny came up with? I'm curious what agreement they came to at the end (understanding that they may have no intention of following through).

Well they had the girls loaded with almost all the chores and taking care of the boys. The plan was to have the parents more involved and doing alot more of the chores and taking cre of the boys and alot more comunication. Because the girls did not feel like they could talk to their parents. My take was the parents just needed to step up and be parents and do their job. I felt so sorry for those poor girls. I will be honest the show made me mad. I didnt like the way the mother responded.

Was there anything in the plan about Mom or Dad actually staying home to care for their children?

    I watched.
And dayng it, ya had to get me started.
    hahahahaha!

In the end, the parents were told that THEY had to do all the chores that dealt with the three babies.

(My words: The older girls were (Hopefully) NOT in the room when the other children were made, so they are NOT the parents. WHY are they raising these boys>)

The parents, for some reason, treated the girls with such disdain, as if they were lazy, loafing, freeloading roommates... not children with the same rights as the younger siblings.... They act like they are about two steps from"Going after" the girls, in a fighting sense....

Therefore, when JoJo moved all of the child rearing jobs to the parents side, the parents felt it was "Not fair" and that they felt the girls were going to be able to Run wild and run all over them.

    Sigh...

I think JoJo should have sent the teen girls on "Vacation" and MADE the parents take the three boys to work with them. If they cannot get work done while at work with the three kids, how did they expect their daughters to get school work done?

And what does that say about how they valued their two daughters? What did it say about how they valued the care that their three younger children were receiving?

Also, they did the "Family Update" either too soon, or nothing has changed.. Did you notice that the older girl, who earlier had colapsed STILL looked warn down with circles under her eyes?

I am HUUUGE on kids doing chores and being productive members of a family, bu the parents resented their daughters as if they were freeloading roommates.. I hate that. Because that means they are essentially abandoned.

Well, one can hope that Child Services was made aware of this situation and able to step in. I'm usually not a big fan of DCFS, but this is one of the few times that I think they would have been more help than harm.

I was thinking the same thing those girls needed to be saved. The older girl still looked horrible at the end.

She looked so scared of her parents and that is so wrong. It looked more like the father was trying to change and he was the one I thought would have the hardest time.

The mother though looked like she just wanted to do her photography job and forget about her other kids.

It was just free babysitting and cleaning house service for them. I am all for kids doing chores mine have done it since they were five yr doing certain chores around the house but that was way too much.

I agree, the older daughter did still look awful at the end of the show.

My kids do chores around here also. But I agree that was way to much.

I did feel like the dad was the one who was showing some changes, but not really the mom. I hope some changes are made. Think about when the girls leave, who is going to raise these boys then? Imagine how they will turn out if they end up at home alone alot.

The one girl is 17yr and is at the age where she can leave next year. She is so broken though I hope they don't try to homeschool her through collage at home too.

I hope someone offers her free collage somewhere with room and board, the other daughter is only 14yrs and looks like she still has life in her still but if they continue she will be broken by the time she gets that age too.

Hubby and I talked about this show last night.. I said you know I think the parents don't even deserve to be parents... CPS should take all those kids away.. then hubby made me think:

"Do you realize how lost those girls would be if they were seperated from their little brothers?"

Yes.. I know what it is like to have to care for your younger siblings. My mom worked nights and I pretty much raised my little sister. I didn't have a social life really.. well yes I did, my friends just always hung out at my house. My situation was a little different.. there was only one parent in our home, and in order for her to keep a roof over our heads she had to work nights, but still it was left on me to be the mom that she couldn't be.

I did not watch it. From what I have read, I must say that I am glad. I would have been disappointed.

I usually do not watch SuperNanny, because the behavior of the kids annoys me!

I happened to watch it, because there was nothing else on tv while I was relaxing before bedtime.

This time, the behavior of the parents annoyed me.

The father didn't think he could do anything at first, because he was at work all day.

The mother basically left all the responsibilities on the teen girls. Did not come home when she said she would, and did not call to let them know she would be late. Then when she does arrive, it's fast food for dinner.

To me, that has the phrase "taking advantage of" written all over it.

The mother says it doesn't happen often.

The girls give the impression that it happens way too often.

I would not call what the mother is/was doing home-schooling. The girls are basically left on their own to do the chores, take care of the 3 younger boys (who need a firm hand IMHO), AND try to study, all at the same time. That is what made me angry!

I hope for the girls' sake that things do change. For the family's sake too.

ETA: I wanted to add that though the girls have responsibility of the younger boys, it seems that they can do nothing to make them listen. That would frustrate me!

I didnt watch very much of it because of the child that spent the show screaching! That was difficult to listen to and watch. I really felt for the kids.
