Hello, My son needs something different than books. He's struggling in math. I went to the Minnesota Association of Christian Home Educators (MACHE) and I saw this demonstration. Does anyone use this program? Do you think it would keep a 10 year old boy interested? :?

Thank you in advance for any answers.

I used this program for my older son while on the mission field in the Amazon. back in 2004 through 2006. It was good. My son used it from 9th through the 12th grade. He is currently in Nepal working with the World Health Organization as a paramedic helping earthquake victims, so I guess he is not stupid. LOL. It may have improved since then though, so take what I say with that in mind. I tried using it with my youngest son (12 year gap between him and his brother) for 3rd grade but he hated it and preferred books. I use the A.C.E curriculum with my youngest.

The SOS curriculum has some real advantages for a parent teacher if a child likes it, but not every kid likes it. There are built in video tutors that I found very helpful in taking some of the burden of teaching off my shoulders, but I found some of the teaching material itself to not be very well explained and that led to some confusion, even for me in some cases.

If you are a parent that is very busy and needs help teaching, SOS can be a life saver, but only if the child likes it.
