I actually bought a used Rosetta Stone for French this year. We've also done Rosetta Stone free from the library, and before that had Power Glide (which flopped for us!)

My personal favorite is The Learnables. We've used a lot of different language learning programs, and in my opinion this is the best. I love it.

Yeah, it's very basic. I've done it as an adult, and you feel like you're about 5. But I've really assimilated the information and all my French penpals tell me that my French is great. To them that's something considering that I'm an American (We have a pretty bad reputation in that regard.)

FYI, if you want to type on the computer in French, I have the following codes. They came from Rachael's English teacher. He passed out a handout with all kinds of funky symbols on it.

Hold down the ALT key while typing the numbers:

    â 0226
    Â 0194
    á 0225
    Â 0194
    è 0232
    È 0200
    é 0233
    É 0201
    ê 0234
    Ê 0202
    ç 0231
    Ç 0199
