Do you ever get the Home school drill? Where someone starts the conversation off with " Oh, you homeschool your kids? What about the _----- you know the S word lol_ how do they get that?
I answer church, and mention friend next to her could tell her how often we re there.
    "what about sports?"
    Yes we do many sports.
"Ya but.... " it continued on to many questions probalby close to twenty and I was having to do an "ON THE SPOT" interview with this lady. Then she told me how wonderful her private school is and how shes trying to get into another one yada yada yada... I know the schools she was talking about trying to get in to.they are good sure.
The questions were done in that condesending way, included all the basics so I was wondering if there is a Homeschool Drill test out there? Hehe,

We were at a graduation party today. The young man is Black, and he alone in his family attends our church. He is the youngest child, and has some learning difficulty. Socially and economically, we have nothing in common with this family, except their son, whom we think is a fine, deserving young man. There were lots of young neices and nephews there, most of them preschoolers. So my unsocialized homeschooled 8YO, who had nothing in common with these kids except that he was a child, was outside playing all kinds of football and tag and chase stuff. Someone brought out a Slip-N-Slide, and I did take him aside to tell him that these kids probably weren't good at taking turns, so he (being the oldest) might have to show a lot of patience, and would need to be very careful with the younger kids. Carl and I were both impressed at how easily he joined right in and had so much fun!

Here is a "Socialization Funny" that maybe you could share with the people who ask about it! This came from another board I am a member of.

"When my wife and I mention we are strongly considering home schooling our children, we are without fail asked, 'But what about socialization?--' Fortunately, we found a way our kids can receive the same socialization that government schools provide.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, I will personally corner my son in the bathroom, give him a wedgie and take his lunch money.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, my wife will make sure to tease our children for not being in the 'in' crowd, taking special care to poke fun at any physical abnormalities.

Fridays will be 'Fad and Peer Pressure Day.' We will all compete to see who has the coolest toys, the most expensive clothes, and the loudest, fastest, and most dangerous car.

Every day, my wife and I will adhere to a routine of cursing and swearing in the hall and mentioning our weekend exploits with alcohol and immorality..--.. And we have asked them to report us to the authorities in the event we mention faith, religion, or try to bring up morals and values."

    I hope that helps!;)

I went through the "homeschool" drill last Wednesday in the waiting room at my Ob's office. The mom I met had a 7 year old and expecting her 2nd baby. She believed that you could not homeschool an only child and that small families are not made for homeschooling and that it was too costly.. yada yada yada..

I had a good rebuttal (err I mean comment) for everyone of her concerns (err I mean questions).
