here. We've hs'd for a week now. At first, it was a little tough. But already my children are getting along better, working together and my oldest is losing her attitude. I spent a few hours Sunday night preparing for the week. I stick to a lesson planner and allow the girls to 'X' off the class as they finish. One tip I am adopting is to allow them to filter through their work for the week and pick out one paper they're proud of to show their father and keep. All others are thrown out. I'm keeping a record book for their grades.....does anyone else have any helpful tips? Thanks. Happy Valentines Day!!
Angie, I like the picking out a paper idea! I never know what to keep and what to get rid of! Right now, I have to throw out most of the stuff in the spelling notebook, or nothing else will fit in. Have you seen Homeschool Tracker? It's a downloadable program that helps you do all the lesson planning that the kids can "X" off. You can print each kid a list for the week or the day, or you can print just one subject for the specified time period. I just got it, so I'm still learning it. I think I'll really like it when I get use to it! They have the basic program free, and also an "updated" program that costs. This one also allows you to print out transcripts. Maybe when we start high school.....
Jackie, thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to check it out. When I said that they pick out one paper, I meant one per subject. It's so rewarding to see our 6 y/o get excited about reading! Keep warm in this terrible snow storm.
that is a super idea for choosing and keeping! I often wonder how to choose what to keep now that I am creating a binder of grades like Deena taught me! ( grin) I have the binders and the beginings, but lots to go working on it! thanks again deena
