Some friends of ours at church were telling us the story of Tim Tebow today. What an incredible story - I had teary eyes just listening. I am so pleased that this young man is such a positiive role model for everyone - and especially homeschoolers.

Evidently there was a great interview with him on ESPN, so his message is far-reaching.

He is the son of missionaries - his mother had an infection while pregnant with him and their doctors recommended abortion - but his parents refused.

He was homeschooled all the way up through high school. He said that his priorities are: God, his family, academics and football. The interview said that with the passion he puts into football, he can only imagine his passion for his first three priorities.

I am going to check to see is there is a copy of the video interview on ESPN's website.

The second picture down on the left side switches. Right above it you can click on Heisman and see his speech. It was really neat. I was rooting for him since our man Sam wasn't in the running. (That is the link to the acceptance speech. I haven't seen the other one.)

ok I am confused on this one, I listen to his speech he never once said anything about homeschooling, he did say he wanted to thank his high school coaches, did I miss something?

    I tried but couldn't post a link - I'm still new.

Also look at the GainesvilleSun online - it has a great article about Tebow, his family, their convictions, and their homeschooling.

He attended Allen D. Nease high school. It is in St. John's County Florida. That school serves the northern end of the county including Ponte Vedra Beach, and the area known as Palm Valley. The school is overcrowded as that end of the county has experienced extreme growth in the last decade.

Tebow "opted in" meaning that his parents chose to take advantage of a portion of the public school offerings, in this case sports.

We're incredibly proud of him here in Jacksonville. He's from Ponte Vedra Beach, part of our metro area, and attends a church in Jacksonville. These people are genuine...they are real... they live their faith, and so do their kids. He's the youngest of 5.

I'm awestruck by their testimony, and by their family. Pam Tebow is an inspirational speaker in the homeschool community. We'd do well to listen to her!!

All I can say is "Wow." To raise my kids as they did...God please give the the Grace to even come near their success!

    Wow.
